Does anyone know if the oil filter for the 900 and mk2 850 are one and the same? I've got a few filters left over from my 850 days but the 900 isn't mentioned on the box.

I could always go in and ask the local dealer but they aren't exactly my favourite purveyors of motorcycles, for reasons that I won't go into here.

Same. Bought the last one from Halfords. they only listed the 850 but it fits the 900 no problem.

thats where i get mine from and its got the big O-ring in there aswell pity they dont put the small one in there aswell

Thanks Steve. I suspected they were the same, just wanted that belief confirmed.

I asked for an oil filter for a 900 TDM at a Yammie dealer today and was told they had none in stock, they're not a popular bike here in Oz. So I then asked if they had a filter for an 850 saying that I believed they were the same, the spare parts guy wasn't sure about this so he contacted Yamaha Australia to confirm.


And according to Yamaha the filters are different, the 900 filter has a higher flow and an 850 filter should not be used in a 900. Feel free to take this information with as many grains of salt as you wish but I think I'll take the route of caution and go with the filter Yamaha recommend.
