Hi guys,

I have my first TDM for a month now and just dropped it this morning :(.

My back break pedal is bended and the right fairing panel is broken in half. Do you know where can I find those two replacements?

PS: the fairing should be blue :)

Thank you!

Borja.

Seems to be a raft of people jumping straight in with requests before introductions...

Welcome aboard - :welcome:

We're a good bunch here & don't bite so perhaps a post in the INTRODUCE YOURSELF thread wouldn't go amiss :)

With regards to your Wanted ad...I may be able to help with the fairing panel - which blue are you in need of as there are a couple...SEE HERE

I may also have a brake lever, but I'm not sure if that went with the frame or is in the "parts bin".

All of this is assuming you have a 900.  If it's an 850 then I have nothing...

Also might be an idea to include location!

Hi there!

Yes sorry it was quite rude to don't introduce myself. I read this forum since a bit of a month now when I got my TDM and I was thinking to introduce myself... but I crashed earlier that I did :(

Thanks a lot for your help. Can I make orders from that site or do you prefer I PM to you instead?

Thanks again :)

EDITED: yes the TDM is 900, from 2011.

Hi Melnaboo!

Welcome home. The site is a bible on TDM's.

As the cowling I can not help you. If it were here in Brazil, it would be easily repaired, we still have several especilalistas artisans in this type of repair and painting. The big problem was the decal. Here we have to turn because the values for new pieces are absurdly expensive. Taxes are absurdly high.

Now on the brake pedal, I did not see how it was, you did not post photos.
But depending on the damage, can be returned to normal position.

  Have you wondered that? :sorry:

Cheers!

Hi Sidarta!

Thanks for your reply.

You are totally right! I'll go now to the garage and ask if they think they can 'bend back' the brake to the original position :).

A shame I'm not in Brazil! otherwise I will visit your garage.

Thanks again!

Another fellow Londonite.

The fairings are just plastic and can generally be repaired, filled and repainted if a replacement can't be found readily.

Why dont you plastic weld the side panel for now, until a decent item turns up......their much rarer than you think, as most have mounting lugs etc broken off, and sometimes their worse than the one on your own bike!

This was mine a week past Sunday when I had an off coming down Hartside (It bites now and then) I'll take pics of it back together, it's not pretty but I can still use the bike!

I've busted up my side panels more than once and they can be repaired. Duct tape it together on the outside and use a dremel to make create a good sizes groove along the split on the inner, fill the groove with baking soda and then run super glue along the groove. You can bend the brake pedal out again, but you'll need to heat it up before you do so to avoid snapping it. Job done.

You may be able to upload directly to the forum (might be for Supporting Members only), but if you don't have that option, use something like PhotoBucket, and then get the image link from there, and post it between image tags:

Just to give you a bit encouragement to DIY here's a link to a youtube vid that gave me a bit inspiration to have a go with a 40w soldering iron and it works a treat! my repair doesnt look pretty and could be made to look a lot better with filler etc,.....but it might happen next week again :P

As the Maestro Del Boy suggests I used a cable tie as a filler rod, and the solid copper wire from grey twin and earth cable ( 1mm) to stitch it together :good:
