Just before christmas I bought a pair of FT Titanium extreme trousers.Supposedly the dogs danglies, and should have been at €170. Today was the first time I've worn them in heavy rain. Less than 5 miles later, sack and crack are soaked in icy cold water.
They are going back, what a piece of crap they were.

Sorry to hear that, and for that money Baby Powder should be supplied.

I bought some Buffalo Trousers from M/P for......£29.99, double lined, knee stuff and great pockets. Use them to work n back, in all wet weather,
never had a wet catsbum. There OK!

What annoys me about the Frank Thomas. He put his boring O'l name across his product. Turns me off

I bought a really expensive Belstaff "Celsius" winter jacket and trousers a few years back at the bike show. They were 1/2 price but I still paid £225. One trip across Dartmoor in the rain and my front was wet and I was sitting in a pool of water after 20 mins. I was very unimpressed. last year I bought a cheapo jacket from the show for £30 and guess what? Dry after a whole morning's ride in the pouring rain. The make was Corner which I think is Italian. The Celsius jacket wasn't even warm. ranting.gif

Have a pair of FT "Aqua"something "waterproof" gloves that just soak up the wet and weigh a ton. Being young and naive rolleyes.gif I never took them back.

My Belstaff Mercury jacket is favourite, though - really cosy and w'proof - except I mistakenly bought XL "for comfort" and have room for a family of 4...

I've got the same gloves. The outside gets sodden, and takes hours to dry out, but the inside stays pretty dry - I did 25 miles in the down-pour this morning and the linings were fine. But by the time I went to ride home the damp had soaked through blink.gif

I also used to have FT boots. OK - they didn't say 'Waterproof' - but my trainers gave better wet weather protection! Recently changed to some cheap Spada boots (St Neots M/C £39) and they are real comfy and bone dry. smile.gif

But, my Buffalo jacket let itself down - damp left armpit when I arrived!

They wouldn't be the 'Aquaforce' ones with kangaroo leather palms would they, Ian? If so, I have bought the same ones, had the same experience and have taken the same action as you! rolleyes.gif rotflmmfao.gif

I've had big problems getting the wife equipped with some winter gloves that suit her. I recently ordered her some Held Freezers from getgeared and these have turned out to be excellent. One hard-to-satisfy customer satisfied! laugh.gif At that price, I haven't quite recovered enough yet to treat my humble self, but I'll definitely be investing in some next winter. The quality is excellent (as you'd expect for that price wink.gif ). good.gif

..but in the end you've proved it's wub till Held Freezers over - aww wub.gif wub.gif

I think my FT's were of some less exotic species - like, geriatric Aberdeen-Angus. Btw did anybody see the recent Antiques Road Show from the Castle o' Mey?
One exhibit was a fishing net float made of a dog's skin - the material of choice in pre-polythene days, apparently, 'cos it doesn't leak. Dogs have no pores ye see, which is why they never sweat, and have to pant when they get hot (a bit like Wicky, 'cept he does both...). Now, just down the road from here is the big RSPCA dog rescue centre, so if waterproof bike gloves are a problem.... The hair could always be left on for added effect - e.g. Irish Wolfhound anybody??cool.gif smile.gif

Forget your fancy overpriced, shitty "biking" stuff - I got a pair of these in an outdoor shop in 2003 and they've never let me down.

best solution i've found is decent leathers (i had frank thomas titanium summer range kit good.gif ) and an all in 1 waterproof over the top
goretex (& the like) will always let water/cold thru eventually
find an all in 1 set of waterproofs that fits you over your leathers properly and gaffer tap the inside of the crotch for extra protection (as this is where they always seem to leak first with me)
the best reasonably priced 1piece i've found so far is the lewis range, lasted me 2 years before the seams gave out

Got a Rukka jacket and trousers in '92. Cost a fortune then, but they worked. Rode from south of Bordeaux to Cherbourg in torrential rain. Dry,except where water wicked up around hems of sleeves. No one stocks them here in Irl, and prices are just too high to buy through post. I would really want to try them on for size first.
HELD jacket I bought in a sale in Stuttgart about 7 or8 years ago still keeps the rain out, so I think I'll look for trousers. Or, maybe just wear cheaper wets over leathers.
Those 'Flexothane' might do the job.

Had various FT stuff over the years and ALL leaked sad.gif

The worst thing was the AQUA PAK 1st time I used it they leaked so did the next 2 that we replacements's...

So 15 years later thought "They must be better now" and bought some Aqua gloves and guess wot????? Yup soggy cold fingeys sad.gif

I have tried verious diffrent over sootes and they all have had differnt probs too short in leg, leaked after a few months, dribbled down the back of my neck, diffcult to get on etc.......

Now I have a Spada 1 peice and it's the best bit of gear I've ever bought completley dry and easy to get on over leathers and size 14 boots too:yahoo: banana.gif

My Super Modded TDM has gone to a new home :(

I'm now a carbon whore!
