Morning all, picked up a 1998 tdm 850 last weekend, mot’d but been sat for a while, should sit well in the fleet. 😁

The yellow is peelable paint, 95% peeled.

Cheers, she does not look like that this morning, back wheel round the corner having a new tyre, exhaust off for sorting joints out and a bit of a hole needs welding up on the back box, treated some surface rust under the tank, did the air filter and plugs while I was in there.

Only bought it as my wife has expressed an interest in coming out, 500’s a bit small for 2.

Thanks, I know about the oil, eventually found the level window.

Doing an oil and filter change in the morning.

Tail, mudguard and fairing are black underneath, not that bad condition really, I can live with it.

The 500 is a cbf500 abs, it reminds me of my old lc350 in the way it feels and goes, if I’m honest I did not need the tdm, I have an 83 xj900f in the lockup to take her on if needed. Suppose I just really wanted a tdm

I could as a child not pronounce the letter R, slightly noticeable to this day, nothing to do with that though.

An ex used to call me ‘baby waynedear’ then noticed my Xmas pyjamas had Reindeer on them, she howled with laughter for days when she realised waynedear and reIndeer sounded the same, kinda stuck after that. Obviously my name is Wayne

Hello from Romania!

I have just bought a 4TX 1998 beauty.

I have to say that out of all motorcycles ridden by be, this is my favorite.

You can see it alongside my girlfriend's Fazer 600.

Have a nice day!

Bob

Hello,

Greetings from sunless Belfast!  Back to this site after almost 19 years, tempted away from my '95 Mk1 by the lure of yet more horsepower & torque (Bandit 1200, Fazer 1000, FJR1300, another Fazer 1000) but now more interested in something smaller, lighter and more enjoyable at a slightly slower pace  :)

Recently picked up a 2008 TDM9 with 31k miles, seems to be in reasonably good condition & some decent touring mods including Vstrom handguards, Givi luggage, Yamaha crash bars & touring screen and a Scottoiler lurking behind the numberplate.

Maiden journey home last week was a bit underwhelming - I think at times one of the coils was sparking against the frame or engine, so I've just replaced both coils and threw in some iridium plugs yesterday. Hopefully she'll now run a bit better so I can concentrate on the usual areas to address (low rpm fuelling, suspension, screen, lights & bars). Feel confident I can vastly improve her as there is plenty of useful information here in the hivemind to absorb.

Jeff
