On the other hand..........

When I had my 'off' in June......... their recovery got my bike home before I Got back form the hospital
Legal protection on the case wthin 48 hours
Bike got sorted without a quibble.....and allowed repairs to be done at my own regular dealer ...over £2K's worth of repairs with only £200 excess
And I only lost 2 of my 5 years no claims, even though I didn't have any no claims protection
plus, I got phone calls & letters informing me of progress on a regular basis

I've also got 2 good friends who have received the same excellent service from them

My new premium is still only just over £450 fully comp - for SIX bikes - two of which are group 15 !

I think you get what you pay for !

No claims seem to meen nothing now. You'll still get stuffed in the wallet for having the accident on renewal.

I remember when I went from riding and insuring a 50cc scooter to riding and insuring an 850 TDM. Insurance on scooter £92.00 fully comp, swopped insurance over to 850cc, no change in premium excl.gif

I pointed out there was an increase of 800 cc and I was told 'there's no difference in the premium'. So said I "you've been ripping me off for the last 2 years" ranting.gif

Funnily enough I never renewed with them when the insurance was up.

I've just renewed on a multi bike fully comp policy for £227 for '03 TDM900 and '08 Piaggio X8 400 scoot.

Initial renewal said £252 so called up after getting a couple of marginally cheaper quotes (without UK/Euro breakdown cover) and after referring to "my manager" had exactly £25 knocked off. Not very good postcode (Norf London) but 7 years NCB.
'03 silver TDM 900 with V-Strom handguards, GS1150 bar risers, givi box, baglux tank cover, PC III USB with K&N air filter, S/S rad guard, crash bungs, Tigerscreen, iridium plugs, braided front hoses, OEM centre stand, 15W fork oil & 10mm yoke drop, tutoro oiler & sheepskin seat cover! Gone but not forgotten!

It can't just be Carol Nash but......

TPFT on the TDM £174 last year. 1st bike stolen unsure.gif and told premium will go up 20-25% - my fault apparently dry.gif Excess instantly rises £100 to £400!! Comes to renewl and I'm quoted £248, which ain't a 25% rise more like 40%. Call them up, grumble and get an new quote for £45 less, exactly same extras etc. rolleyes.gif

Thing is I also have storage cover on the XS650 - which lives in the same shed, and is insured for the same value as the TDM (£2.5K). Premium on this is..... £43 with a £50 excess.

No I can't figure it either.

Just had my renewal quote from Bennnnennennetts, £118 TPFT. So off I went to confused.com and got £55 through Swinton. Bennetts then countered with £70. The irony is that both quotes are from the same provider (Zenith), but (the Bennett's man told me) obviously Swinton get better deals. Just goes to show you've gotta shop around, and with all these comparison sites about, it's never been easier. Gawd I sound like a commercial.

Last year got a quote from the Gash of £170 (ish) with £250 excess. I used the Amarko thread and followed the simple steps on moneysavingsexpert.com and got £52 (150 excess) ..... EXACTLY the same underwriter and terms....SAME policy but with smaller excesss and much smaller price. blink.gif

Jesus you guys have it so easy accross the water. Have been on a classic policy with Carol Nash for the last 7 years mainly on largee CC stuff, Kaw GT750, Yam XJ900, Kaw KLR650 Tengai, TDM 850mk1. My renewal last month for said '91 TDM, Garaged, 8 years NCB was €493 fully comp, haggled them down to €410, Decided to come off the classic and borrow from the bank( i kept saving but something would always come up and swallow the cash) . Moved up to '07 TDM 900 and they quoted 697..... Shopped around, got Adelaide and Quinn to come to 540 included NCB protection and excess of 250 and went with Quinn. AON wanted 1100!!!! I have had a previous accident just before renewal and was amazed by the effeciency and customer service i have received to date from Carol Nash. Like they said earlier, you get what you pay for. But looking at you insurance figures re enforces the m,essage over here that biking really is a luxury.... Oh and by the way I also have a car and health insurance and life insurance but none and i none of the above would do a deal if i moved policies tom them along with bike insurance except Quinn and i would have to spend over 2k a year before i would get approx a 10% discount on stuff......
I don't like YZ250's anymore.........check out my avatar, one literally kicked me in the ass

I paid £230 for my last renewal with Carole Nash (XT600, Buell Cyclone, TDM MK2a), being 43 and having zillion no-claim years. Not bad although gone up 20% over the last 2 years. Having been hit by a reversing lorry and getting stuck with a broken Africa Twin in France I have to say CN's service is excellent and I won't easily end my contract with these guys who offer great cover and go the extra mile when you really need it.

Worrying all those insurers comparison websites, basically being brokers comparing brokers who compare broker-comparing brokers that eventually pick the "cheapest" insurer for you: With each party wanting to make a few quid and still come up with the best offers it's no wonder that loyal customers who are more interested in a proper service rather than saving a few frigging tenners on a hobby that costs thousands anyway, are being presented the bill for this virtual money-saving for the ignorant and diluted masses. It nicely sums up what state this once proudly producing and innovating country is in.

I am no doubt getting too cynical and grumpy for this modern world rolleyes.gif

Carole is just a middlewoman, like the services offered on comparison sites. The underwriters and therfore the terms and conditions of insurance remain the same, EXACTLY in my case, other than Gash also wanting a huge amount more as claims excess. She is also the only one of them that has blatantly lied to me and topped off the cake by lieing about lieing. To be fair to ole fatneck, it started going to poop after she sold out.

I have just renewed with Carole Nash

Last year I paid £180, renewal came in as follows: Same company with £250XS was £320, another company was £220 but with £400XS, so I called them up, said I was happy with the service but not the XS, on hold for 2 minutes and suddenly my current insurers can price match the £220 and keep the £250XS, said I was still unhappy about the £40 increase despite my having another years NCD (no 4 years)
They then went through my details, since I now use the garage and not the driveway that took some off, plus the fact I have had another non fault claim go through didnt help, eventually they dropped it a bit more and I ended up paying £190

I am happy with the price and the service I have had from them in the past (2 non fault claims plus used thier breakdown service a couple of times) so I paid up

The only thing that annoys me is that if I hadn't called I would have ended up paying more and had a higher XS - it certainly pays to call them no matter what the comparison site show up

And don't even get me started with MCNCompare - every company they use came back as Call Us To confirm - hmmm, nopoint using MCNCompare then is there rolleyes.gif
