When reversing your TDM, or indeed any other hefty motorbike, refrain from wearing slippers, especially if you leave the sidestand down, you're averse to serious pain and you have a goofy big toe with an ingrowing toenail. :(

I did this about 4 weeks ago, I actually caught the part just behind my toenail, and after a couple of days discomfort thought I'd be ok.  Walking as normal and going on a few rideouts and all was fine.  However, as my big toenail started to blacken I've been in considerable pain for the past 5-6 days, tight socks are too much at the mo.

Couldn't get a doctors appointment so saw the local nurse,  told me to take Ibuprofen for 2 weeks and then see her again if I'm still in pain and they'd get it x-rayed.  I was hoping to get referral to a podiatrist but no mention of seeing one.  In the meantime I can't wear a shoe or boot, can't ride my bike and I'm feeling extremely sorry for myself, like ya do.

Arghh!! Have ewe thought about safety crocs? I wear mine all the time and the perforated thin rubber is ideal to protect toes! Apparently I was on faceache spotted in Tongeren last week for wearing mine.. . . Dunno what that is but I am sure they were admiring them. :-)

Hope the toe heals soon.

Hi to all!

Even for maneuvers in the garage I use the boot. I am thin and weight only 63 kg, so great care is.

TDM is very heavy and wide seat diminiu the footrest. smooth or even new slippers do not match the weight of TDM.

But thank you for the warning Studley.

I hope you(SR) get well soon.

Cheers!

As it's come on a while after the injury do you think it's more like an infection? Try the hot salty water foot baths. If not salt then biological washing power's a good one.

I'm a bugger for ripping the nail down the side when cutting and the amount of times I get trouble after, should know by now but the foot baths work a treat for me.

Hope it clears up soon whatever.

I thought it might be an infection but nurse says no and tbh I've had no signs of there being one.  Just seem to get inflammation.  The Ibuprofen seems to be helping though. :)

I thought of you as I was moving my bike with open-toed sandles! No! I changed into my boots. I hope it's improving for you, SR.

Glad I helped prevent another mishap. :)  not sure if it's improving, or if it's the Ibuprofen, but I'm able to hobble around in my trainers now and the inflammation has stopped. Will have a better idea after next Monday when I'm off the pills.

Did the same myself many years ago, Suzuki GS1000 I think. It feckin' hurt, but no lasting damage. Clearly I'm made of stronger stuff than you Studders  :P Hope you recover speedily.

Oooh like them!! :-)

Same! I wear crocs all the time, it helps that you don't see them whilst wearing.

They are as slick as an eel on wet concrete and I often do the splits when it rains. I'm still dumb and lazy enough to move the bikes around in me crocs when it's wet, though. I've developed a car port shuffle, think of someone elderly using a TDM instead of a zimmer frame on an ice rink.

They are not much chop for kick starting thumpers.

Hope you have a speedy recovery with your battered big toad Studley. An ex mate hit my thumb with a ball peen years ago and it looked like a black puddin for weeks. Ohhh, it was really nippy, the weight of a glance at it had me wincing.
