2 days later.....great service!
To be fair, I dropped the bike in on the Saturday - they are closed Sundays & Mondays - & he rang me on the Tuesday.
I'd arranged to leave it with them all week & pick it up on the following Saturday anyway, as I'm working away a lot at the moment.
They picked the issue up changing the final drive oil - it was milky & had water in it - so they had to ask me for authorisation to inspect further under the warranty.
I said yes & they found a fair bit of corrosion due to water ingress from a damaged O ring seal. The bearing wasn't too bad, but it's only the bearing & bearings, crown wheel etc covered under the extended warranty .......but to change those, they had to rebuild the whole lot, if you get my meaning
They did me a big favour doing it the way they did
And as regards the longevity compared to chains ......it's a big heavy bike that has been used 'enthusiastically' all it's life - so if the FD has cost me £50 in six years & 36k miles, I'm happy. I've got a TDM that's still on it's first C&S's after 30K miles as well .......but my Fazer 1000 - which is more comparable needed them changing at 12k miles
The older I get, the better I was
