As you know I sold my TDM a couple of years ago and bought an Italian Stallion of a Aprilia Tuono Racing.

This year I have started making bits for it out of carbon fibre as a hobby (all be it an expensive one!).

I have finally got good enough at it to start my own Facebook page.....

https://www.facebook...antscarbonising

I mainly make stuff for the Tuono/ Mille, but I am open to a challenge so if any of you want anything making out of carbon let me know. Probably best to let me know though my FB page.

I cannot make farings/ body panels as I would need a mould. They would take about 100 hrs to make or loads of money to have made.

I hope this topic is ok with the mods as I do still stick my head round the door (mainly to take the mickey ;-) ) But if not just delete it!

Thanks

Jolly Geeeeeeeeeee

You get the mould made, they are fairly cheap.....Only about a grand for that, and I'll a carbon one from it!

Thanks, I'm getting there very slowly.
The learning curve is vertical and I can make one and it comes out perfectly, make another exactly the same way and its straight into the bin it's that bad!

Carbon cockpit inner can be had from a firm called zero limits which is where I got mine and my under tank fillets from... It will not be cheap.

These folks do them as well, but note they don't tell you how much.

These are the bits I have on my bike. I've stopped adding bits now due to the expense !

As JG says a difficult and expensive process requiring a vacuum pump and all sorts of kit.

I'm astounded he can make the bits he does.

It's why I'm with her for the long term, couldn't bear to part with her now, too much time and money invested. she's on 27K now so I reckon I've got another 10 years at least.  :)  We'll all be on methanol fuel cell bikes by then

You can't compare carbon to dipping as dipping is the shittiest thing going unless it's wood grain! It doesn't even look real as you can see on those wheels.

Yes wet lay is slightly heavier but I cant afford the gear to do pre preg, I am also lacking the skill at the minute too!

Why do you want air scoops on the brakes? Surely if they are getting hot enough for scoops they a binding?

He's been carbon captured. :D

I liked the odd carbon parts on my mk1 but was always worried about it getting scuffed, you can't repair it as you could with a painted part.  I also reckon some bikes lend themselves to carbonizationing more than others and JG's boike is perfect for it.

You can repair it pretty well actually. It also doesn't scuff that easily, thats why it's good for heel plates.

Whatever you fancy just ask and if I can give it ago I will.

My stuff is fairly cheap at the mo as I only really enough to cover materials and maybe a drink on top. The hangers I'm selling on Ebay start at £15, not the £45 like someone is selling them for!
