Update .............

Dint go out on her last night as weather was terrible so called it a night about 5:30 and chilled .... mucho needed

This morning thought i'd give her a try and hey presto she started ..... not nicely but better than she has done.

Last night she sat in the garage on the side stand instead of a rear paddock as before........ could this be a coincidence?

Does the carb float work a bit like a toilet cystern? and maybe on the paddock the bike is tipped forward so fuel is flowing over into the cylinder

Does that sound feasible?

Cheers

Yaaa, it can sort of work like a cystern.

And Yes, it's feasible. Did you turn the fuel tap off last night ?

I'm just thinking about which way the floats move when the rear wheel is lifted. You could be either flooding it or it could be getting airlocked.

EDIT: I think lifting the rear wheel would close the float valve, so it could be a lack of fuel getting to the carbies, or an airlock.

I know Worksop, i deliver to Le Farge just up the road and go through to Chesterfield a bit sometimes.

I might put her back together and take her for a run out, not too far but enough to get things lubed and moving sweetly

Is the carb issue a bigun or reletively easy? remember i'm next to fooking useless rotflmmfao.gif

I was just gonna suggest you take her out for a blast, the float valves could be sticky and the fresh fuel flowing might help free 'em up.

I got one of them little bottles of REDEX and ran it through a tank of fuel.

Carb jobby is a bit much for the uninitiated, it depends on what needs doing to them.

See how she fares after a day of riding.

You could have a run out with Kaustic as back up if he's willing.

You don't need a full bottle, it has the dosage instructions. Make sure it's the one for carbs and not the one for fuel injection. Halfords do them and they are about £3 each, it's only a small bottle.

I just dumped the lot in mine biggrin.gif

It cleans up all the crap in the carbs and you might get some smoke coming out for a while as it burns off the crap.

You could try parking her up on the centrestand and chocking the front wheel so she's leaning backwards instead of forwards when on the paddock stand.

I got the single shot Redex in Halfrauds as well as I suspected that mine had not been doing much when I bought her. Although I think it's a single shot based on a cage I lobbed the whole thing in a full tank. Snatchy throttle thingy going on etc. It might be my imagination but I think the Redex contributed to a better and nicer running engine and after a good chain degrease and lube the whole thing is nice and smooth (for a TDM that is lol).

Hope you get her sorted sir.

Didn't Mike have a fuel pump issue that was causing the carbs to flood if he didn't turn the tap off. Did he get round to sorting it out?

Didn't know anything about it, did he post about it on here?

Just got her back together and went for a little run, got some Redex so will run that through, bike is on the side stand now on a slight incline so will see how that goes

Studley, weren't really thinking about any day in particular just that today was a possiblity as Kris was at a loose end (is it Kris or Chris Kaustic?)

I'll keep ya posted on how she goes in the morning but for now i need to give a little time to Mrs Moose before i end up with a sandwich for Sunday dinner and that just wont do

ChrisG might have the answer !

Moose, TURN THE FUEL TAP OFF ! hehe If what Chris says is true, it could be either the pump or the tap.

I'd ave been struggling timewise to give the carbs a proper look at and it's a fair way to travel just to half do the job.

I happen to have a spare tap and a spare pump but I don't yet know if any of them work properly. Keep us posted re yer bike and I'll get these looked at in the mean time. I've got yer addy details if needed.

I think the smoking engine must be due to it being stood, IIRC Mike had it MOT'd and it would have failed the emissions if it was smoking then.

Go and earn yer dinner !
