Hi all, just to show one of the places we will visit in October. Its "Blowhard" on the crossover from Benambra to Omeo Valley. This is the highest point and hope to see a number of TDM's lined up like this for a photo, one of many to be taken of the TDUT2010.

Looks nice & warm in that shot. Things are starting to get a bit cold down here with the Penguins.
Looking forward to October.

Hi all, now be nice, this is my first video. Using one of those $AU47 MD80 cheap cameras. At 720x480 and stuck to the top of the helmet, this is what you get.
In October we will be riding all or parts of this road a couple of times so for those that dont know it and our friends overseas this is the Omeo Hwy, Omeo to Glen Wills. Glen Wills or Glen Valley really because it has Glen Wills and Sunnyside in it was a very rich but remote Gold mining area, some of the best and most intact relics are here and wearing my Historical Society cap was the reason for coming out here today, good excuse for a ride.
And replying to TDMtoraneko, its getting colder here too but still managing 20 degree days, hope it at least like this in Oct, great riding weather!
So here it is

Hi all, its been a busy time here but finally namaged to get this together, rode it last sunday, last time this season, the snow has started to fall and the snow season starts in early June. These roads are then closed to bikes. They are open to bikes again on 1st October, in time for the TDUT but last year the Falls Creek road was still closed in the week leading up to PI (snowdrifts across road) but was open by the time you were headed home which is also the week we want to ride it in 2010. This run over the mountains will hopefully be done twice during TDUT, once in each direction, so long as you all agree of course!
Sorry about the view from my camera, thought had it right but no, way too low to be of much value, ah well, just have to ride it again i suppose-------- laugh.gif
october ride TDUT 2

Hi all, another video of some of the area we will ride in October. On you tube here,
October rides TDUT 3
Did this ride last Sunday so , as in the other vids, ignore the dates the camera shows.
Frosty morn and at lunchtime the ice was still in the shadows.
Note the "noise" bit about 3 1/2 mins in

Well done Graeme,

just caught all three vid's and they look like great rides.... can't wait, bugger the snow!

Where'd ya get the pre-load adjusters on your front forks (I'm guessing that's what those blue anodised thumb-wheel looking thingys are)? They'd be havta be handy.

Cheers,
AzzA

HI Azza, Got them last year but this link is to the same shop on ebay uk but the product is slightly changed. Cant (couldnt) get them in Australia, as you can see they are generic 17mm for ohlins. As I recall ended up buying from here as best combo of price / postage at that time. They are handy for when you do change the preload. You didnt pick up on TDMToraneko's comment of a couple of weeks back then in TDUT?
Very!! eagle eye on seeing that camera mount yesterday or whenever.

preload adjust 17mm

cheers Graeme

Hi all, the pic is from Trailbike Adventure Mag (current). Postie bike challenge earlier this year came through this way and they did a shot on Lake Omeo. We were probably going to do something similar anyway but we certainly will now. Providing it stays dry of course. How about spelling out TDM with bikes and an aerial shot?

Graeme,
Aerial shot? Just need a field below a road on an adjacent hillside, sounds like Omeo country to me... 16 or more bikes would be enough to spell out TDM.

Hi MB, for sure, as you say, I was just thinking of taking advantage of the Benambra airstrip thats next to the lake and a (probably) cooperative local pilot.

Graeme,
That sounds like fun, wouldnt involve Ben Buckley would it ?
We will need some good shots to send to our Northern brothers !
Aerial shot of us riding across the lake bed in V formation a la the Wild Bunch could be in order, what do you think?

Hi Rick, well picked, yes Ben would be the likely pilot.
Like the "V" idea or whatever other plan is devised. Never know we might make it into the carpe calendar. Will speak with Ben at earliest op.
Any other thoughts?
cheers Graeme

Graeme
It did occur to me that some of our throng will be TDM subject matter experts (not me) and may be prepared to share same in informal, interactive setting after a hard days ride but before the serious disablement sets in...ie gather round a TDM with a beer to listen to Professor (insert your name here) regale us with the finer points of (for example) bike handling, countersteering, suspension set up, carb balancing, fuel injection, windscreening etc. (no need to actually know anything, just to think that you do!) tongue.gif
Do you think there could be some takers?
Rick
