My 900SS is poorly. I came to start it the other day having done all the usual checks you always do before starting an elderly aircooled Ducati, Checked that the ambient air temperature was above 10 degrees, checked that the battery was fully charged, put in the "special" spark plugs and started playing Nessun Dorma with Pavarotti. But nowt, just the click of the solenoid. It was running fine back in August so I checked the 18 month old battery Yuasa) and it was found to be failing with the voltage steadily dropping over a few days.

What I want to do is hook it up to a rechargeable portable power pack, preferably one with a compressor so I can inflate tyres too. There are a lot on Ebay and I wondered if anyone has any guidance on what to buy?

.....got one from Halfords a couple of years ago......seem to recall about £60.....
used it on bike and car a few times......works fine.

If I suspect I’m going to need it, I stick it on charge, and it’s usually ‘ready’ within
half an hour......even though I’m under the impression it holds the charge for about three months
There is a test button to indicate the level of charge

the tyre inflator works OK, but is not notably speedy

There is a mini fluorescent tube type light.....(if you find yourself ‘in a dark place’)

Thanks chaps, now can't decide on whether to have the compressor facility or not. Would be handy to just have that lightweight pack which is truly portable.

.........in which case the Halfords one I’ve got would probably not suit you.......

‘light’ it ain’t !

mind you, it likely that technological advances since ‘mine’ probably mean ‘lighter’ and more compact

still think a compressor is worth having to hand.....even if it’s only for your li-lo

I assume the newer one will be a series of lithium ion cells rather than lead acid like an older one. A lot of Chinese stuff I've had comes with one or more 18650 cells.
