I'm the same - ride all year round 70'ish miles per day and so I think the power, seating, fuel comsumption etc is just about right. Also the same again, mine is coming up to 70k so was looking for something newer but:-
Tiger 800 - To new + expensive
Tiger 1050 - Overkill
Versys - Trimmed down TDM
BMW - Had 'em before (1100, 1150) but not sure on the current types and the expense
Maybe I'll just see how many miles it can do...

Mine fast approaching 65k, but I don't have the pennies to be looking for replacements.
Should a fairy (an I don't mean another 9er rider) throw some money my way then I'd get another TDM. Plus a VTR, and maybe something along the FJR lines for holiday purposes with SWMBO - did the Euro roll over again this week
I've absolutely no complaints with the TDM for what I use it for.

The concept of technical, omnipresent platform in the automobile sector, makes more and more followers in the manufacturers motor bike. After BMW and Guzzi Motor bike for example, we recently saw Honda transforming its WP-sport VFR 800 VTec into Crossrunner very tempting. For 2012, it will be with the turn of Yamaha of ressusciter its TDM 900 on the basis of XT1200Z Super Ténéré… New a scoop Moto-Station.com!
M.a.j. : 01-04-2011
Intro
UPDATE of 2 April: you were numerous “to walk” but some nevertheless unmasked it on the forum motor bike-station, this TDM 1200 was our fish of April 2011… But which knows what does the end of the year for us hold? Remain connected!
Following the example what is practised for many years in the car, one knows that Yamaha will use the technical base of the 1200 Super Ténéré to design new mocks up. But until there, like sister Anne, one saw nothing coming. And if replacing it of the 900 TDM seemed more logic, it is curiously of a sporting way TRX whose made state recent and quite curious rumour. Eh well this time, it is the good one: Yamaha 1200 TDM will be presented with the nearest re-entry!
Like its devancière of 900 Cm3, this motor bike will take again the twin-cylinder of the trail twin house as well as a part cycles rather similar (and not Deltabox). The which roll trains are obviously borrowed from the roadster FZ1, with which the TDM also shares several distinctive features (key out of almond, exhaust silencer…). Also note the adjustable bubble, guaranties comfort on length browse, the roomy saddle or the generous suspension travels.
For the time being, isn't it known if the twin will be worked over again for more character (one of the small defects of the XT1200Z Super Ténéré), nor when this Yamaha news will be presented exactly, in Milan… or Paris? But a thing is certain, the road trails more and more in vogue will count in 2012 new competitor of choice, and at Moto-Station.com, one is in a hurry to be able to discover it in detail… And you?

Having said that the alternatives I've looked at have had flaws in other areas like comfort, tank range, economy, & doubts about reliability. I would also add price but the recent yamaha price hikes have scuppered that one
The only bike that might tempt me next time would be a Tiger 800 specially if they offer a larger tank

Me to, I'd like it to have the same R1/XTZ12200 lights, but I would like the easy adjustablity of the headlight like the Tiger800 or FJR. Also an adjustable type screen like the Duc MS or XTZ or dare I say it R1200GS.

With MCN publishing a mock up of a replacement TDM based on the MT09 what do people think. Could this be the way Yamaha will go with this new triple engine?
Has anyone ridden the MT09?
Sat on one yesterday and seemed very small so is it suitable base for a triple based TDM?
