Er...anyone fancy a trip to Scotland...?
dunno, I'll have a rummage though my PC and have a look at my maps from that trip.
If you're going via the lakes and haven't done them before then agree with Mark that Hartknott and Wrynose are an impressive experience. On the way back from the G2G they were all saying we should stop and drop our luggage off before going over there, I didn't really believe them until I got there and was glad we had. I didn't believe them that in some places the road was nearly 45 degrees either...

Nah, that was the loonytoon in the Transit trying to get past the Audi. Bit I'm thinking of was too narrow for us to overtake.
My memory's rubbish.
Edit: Looking at googlemaps it may well have been the stretch south east of Lancaster heading through Marshaw to Dunsop Bridge. I definatly remember Dave saying Dunsop Bridge was one place we needed to go though.

Applecross (pass of the cattle) is a must. If you do the road across the top (northerly route) on a sunday the garages are shut and theres only a few anyway.
Also if you get to Tongue head south again from there as it gets boring further on and JoG is the pits anyway.
you'll have fun up there anyway its a crackin place.

The B871 is good too and there's a good chance of seeing a few Brochs on route
http://www.visitours...tish/broch.html
Once past Inverness on the A9 you could cut across East to where we'd one of our Scottish G2Gs and go down the magnificent A839 Tomintoul to Cockbridge road to Ballater and head south on the 93 to Braemar and Glen Shee, more "Big Country" moments there too ..................

I wouldn't disagree with any of the suggested Scottish routes, but feel I should add my 'own' road, the B869, Lochinver - Newton via Drumbeg. It's madder than the wee mad road south of Lochinver, with a couple of 1-in-4s, one with a great hairpin, plus stunning views of mountains and coast. Refreshment stop (and loos) at Drumbeg. just watch out for sheep (daytime) and deer (nighttime) and idiot tourists in campervans. Altogether its 25 miles of single track road that will have you grinning widely.
Enjoy!
