Water Pump (9Ner) -Oil Leakage

Hi all

Just discovered small oil leakage originating from water pump. I was advised by my mechanic that the leakage is due to a faulty oil seal. He tried to fix it but says he could not stabilize it in place and the seal keeps dislodging. Suggested we change the complete pump...

Has anyone been through this kind of situation? any advice?

My bike has 60000Kms on the odometer...

Lee Henty has successfully repaired a pump.  http://www.carpe-tdm...hl=+water +pump

 

 

If it's the outer seal then it's pretty straightforward replacing it with a new seal.

Thanks for the link. Just learnt that the mechanic succeeded in fixing the oil sealer using some kind of Super Glue! He says the sealer that kept dropping into the housing is now stable and is keepiung the oil from oozing into the housing as it should.
We tested the bike - running the engine inside the workshop and then riding it for some distance using a lot of throttle changes.
No oil leakage detected..

Will follow up with frequent visual checks. If I discover renewed leakage, will order new pump.
