Stupid mistake, after oil + filter change last week realised oil level to high. Used a large syringe and some tubing to remove some oil first couple was ok third time tubing fell in to the tank  . Was concerned incase it could possibly restrict oil flow or break up over time so thought it best to remove asap.

Anyhow maybe I'm stupid (probably) but could not get the tank out. Ended up having to pivot motor forward on bottom eng mount to get enough clearance, removed sensor on bottom of tank and managed to get the tubing out. Pig of job though :( , luckily I'm retired with nothing better to do  :D.

Cheers Jimmy.

If it's any consolation I have a jerry can that rattles like hell due to the tip of a pouring spout that's been in there a couple of years, not nearly as critical but it happens to us all usually through badly thought out shortcuts, often planned in the pub...

Would one of those flexy grabbers do? They've got me out of a few stupid mistakes in the past.
Speaking about lost items in fuel tanks, a few years ago I used to demolish pine trees for firebreaks on a Cat D7. We had to remove the tank to do some repair and when we drained it, found someone's wallet with money and ID. Never found out how it got there. Couldn't read the ID.
