I am already covered for breakdown with the AA separately. So, I suppose that price might seem reasonable because there's no breakdown in it. Anyway, I am happy. Next battle will be in July for a reduction in the AA breakdown cost - likely to be about £60 more than joining the RAC. I don't mind switching that either.

As the case may be, but "as I am over 65" (well over, actually) they can no longer insure me, they tell me. This is a 'brokerage' [owned by Saga!] which appears to be the agent of only one insurance company. I got all sorts of blather when I suggested they look at other companies. Anyway, the AA came up with £141...and then £115. All calm again. Until the next time.
......(if you could be bothered) you could see my (very) previous post.......
which mirrors Robodenes almost exactly
......Bennett’s......PAH !.......
claim to scour the market to find us the best quote.....when clearly they only deal with on or two insurers
and, come renewal time, spring massive premium hikes, which they hardly even bother to justify.....
I guess their business model tells them that the suckers who accept the increase more than compensate
for the customers who walk away
Still unprincipled........Rubbish

PS. Premiums seem to be stabilising and I have renewed my other bike with no cost increase.

I try them all (data saved from the previous year, so its not that time consuming) and then log off for a few days. Usually theyll start emailing offers/fighting between themselves to get my business!

I phoned Bennets 5 weeks before the renewal date and told them I was shopping around. They offered £22 less for renewing again with them. So I did.
I'll shop around next time, I usually do, but thought the fact that it went down was a step in the right direction

It's the most beautiful time of the year again.
Got a hefty loyalty hike from Hastings, so wouldn't renew on principle. Bennetts came in cheapest on the Meerkat search, so i gave them a call. The bloke in the morning was fine, but when I called back in the afternoon I got through to some devious bitch who had the gall to try to bump the price up because I added a top box. She said it was because it would take the value over £400, but I'd already told her the value was less than that. So she then tried to make a case for the price hike being due to it being under £400. She'd obviously just decided that she'd seize on any changes and bump up the quote, which had already been fixed with her colleague that morning. She just fell short in the logic department or hoped I would and get brow beaten into acceptance. I told her it was the quoted price or I'm off.
Well she went off, as they do, to smoke a fag or something, don't buy that pretence of talking with a supervisor. Left me hanging for 7 minutes, so I hung up. If I'd have stayed on the line she'd have likely said she could only scrub a couple of quid off. But I got the call back saying the quoted price was acceptable and I went ahead grudgingly. If it wasn't for the fact that the next nearest quote was £30 more, I'd have walked. Utter (mostly in my experience) devious sharks.
£69.48 btw.
On edit: I actually listened back to the recording of the conversation I made and it was even more baffling. Such obvious, mishearing and lying. Gaslighting I think they call it.

Do we actually have any regulator with teeth to stop these sharp practices?
