Anyone any tips for removing the regulator rectifier? I am finding it a nightmare to remove the bolt close to the rear suspension.

Ended up cutting the thing of the battery casing. Not worth the two hours i spent trying to take it off properly.

Thread dredge but I have the same issue.  At present I'm considering either

  • drilling a hole in the top of a 10mm socket so I can get some leverage on it as no way wrench will fit on top.
  • drilling out the bolt from the battery side
  • cutting it off battery casing

Only other option is remove rear shock and that seems a tad excessive for what is a 5 minute job on any other bike I've owned....  there must be an easier way.

Does anyone know the "proper way"  to get the rectifier off on a TDM900?

Does the workshop manual reveal any clues?

Howzabout a heavily offset ring spanner, like this:-

https://www.google.c...QMygAegUIARDsAg

ADD: The above fits - using my 10 & 11 mm size.

I also fitted a combination 10mm spanner with a mild offset - less offset even than this: https://www.amazon.c...E/dp/B01BOT028K

I suggest you douse the bolt in penetrating fluid first - it gets manky and wet under there.

 - or one of these with a 1/4" socket:-

https://www.tengtool...x-Wrench-691406

Mine with a 12mm socket on the end needs a 44mm clearance. My socket is shorter than that illustrated and from a cheepo set.

- wrench must have been cheaper when I bought it tho'! (ADD: mine is an earlier design, less streamlined and without the hole)

ADD LATER: This does NOT work even with the correct 10mm socket - too little headroom.
