Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.

Cheers Mick, yep your right no point crying over spilt milk, i'll keep at it, one thing i can say with confidence after several mistakes along the way is, i would'nt have any problem doing another Tdm engine at all, certainly have it done a lot quicker also, so i'm glad to have attempted it...

Is it normal for a new head gasket to look like this, you can clearly see the gasket is made up of 3 layers and looks like it may of delaminated around 1 side and edge, dunno not had one before.

Fitted it anyway as when it's torqued down it should work as normal i presume !

Not the best pic is it, okay well that's reassuring then, you can actually see the shiny middle layer between the 2 black outer sides of the head gasket, did'nt know if it was a duff gasket or normal.

I wanna dig out me old 9r tensioner, wherever it is and see iffit might fit Al, then the engwin will need to be manhandles downstairs an all..

spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

Good point Dave, maybe i'll set it up eh, already turned over and tested, nice to see the oil getting scraped off the top of barrels and the gears all work forwards and back,woop woop.

Something else i need to address actually is the rotor (flywheel) and the question is wether to lap it in to the crankshaft as the 2 are'nt an original couple, me thinks yes but perhaps using fine paste only and bluing (marker) to highlight any issues, i also hae loctite 638 :evillaff:
