Hello All,

Bike has been MOT'd today but just needs a couple bits sorted before it's ready.

One issue is with the carbs. During a test ride yesterday it won't pull cleanly above 4000rpm with the choke in. With the choke out it played ball.

The carbs have been stripped and ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt with a rebuild kit, including tubes. It idles ok and new airbox to carb rubbers are on order as the originals are hard.

Are there any other area's which could cause this issue.

Ta

Bondy.

My first thoughts would be the fuel levels, are they within factory specs ?

Second would be the needle height, are they set to factory spec ?

Difficult to know for sure though, might be that something wasn't refitted correctly, diaphragms, jets, etc.  Might even be the inlet rubbers you mention.

Hi Studders,

yep had mooch about on the search engine and badly fitting/old carb to airbox rubbers seem to cause these types symptoms so will change them first rather than rip the carbs out again.

Will you keep you'all posted on progress.

Bondy.

Just had it confirmed that everything went back as per factory spec (and knowing the guying doing it I wouldn't doubt him) so hoping it's just the rubbers. I'm getting desperate to get the bugger back and learn to ride again, been 6 years since the last time.

Getting twitchy

Bondy.

P.S.

during his test ride yesterday he did admit he loiked it, not bad for a chap that doesn't do anything post 1980's  :good:

If the new rubbers aren't any good then that's the next plan.

Think you might be confusing inlet rubbers with carb to airbox rubbers chaps.

Have you checked the carb diaphragm rubbers, the ones that move the slides?
I've had some similar issues, turned out that one of the two was torn.
