Hi all,

Currently I have a 04 TDM 900.I plan to change the front rim to a 17 inch rim (Taken from a fazer 1000 02-03 model).

Does it directly fit (using back tdm original brake discs, calipers, bearing, etc) without any mods?

I know a fellow forumer Jolly Giant 1992 tdm using Thunderace front end.

Many thanks. cool.gif

The question is not "WHY " but How!! rolleyes.gif

I haven't ridden a 04 TDM but don't think it could be that bad??

I changed mine cos I thought the standard MkI front end was pants blink.gif

Would think your best chances of finding what do's and wot dosn't fit is to find the part No's out of the Fazer and check the TDM's also look for pics to see if they look the same!!

I would only recommend this route if you are good at bodging/ making other parts fit??

I spent about 20 hrs making T/Ace yokes fit TDM...(lock stops, changing steering stem etc)

My Super Modded TDM has gone to a new home :(

I'm now a carbon whore!

I had checked of both bikes specs and from the looks of them looks like perfect fit.

Anyone here have a different opinion?

I think the fjr 1300 and the fazer 600 / 1000 3 spoke straight ones are a direct replacement IIRC

If you think about this from outside the box...

Why would Yamaha spend millions designing and manurfacturing a front wheel for a R6 and only use it on that model dry.gif

Whilst doing my homework for my front end conversion the T/Ace, T/Cat and the early R6 and R1 all have the same front wheel (part No the same) rolleyes.gif

Same as the calipers but they also use them on TDM's now!!!

Head race bearings shared over about 10 models and not only Yam's belive it or not dry.gif

Look at other models of around the same age??

So do your home work and it should work out ok..... rolleyes.gif

I reckon your best bet is to buy all your bits off Ebay and set yourself a price and stick too it cos if it dosn't fit you can re-sell them and not lose too much money!!

I paid £54+£10 postage for the T/Ace wheel and disc's and nearly new Hi-Sport tyre! £70+ £10 postage for the forks, yokes and spindle!! cool.gif tongue.gif

So don't rush into it and wait for the bargin!!!

Oh and also ask as many questions as needed about inner bearing sizes, spindle dia and length etc..Found 99% of people on Ebay more than willing to help and those who didn't answer my Q's I didn't bid.. laugh.gif

Hope it work's out and can't wait to see the pic's!!!

i had a mission to get 2x 125cc bikes (not scooters) for a couple of friends to learn on
spent a few weeks looking around and ended up spending £600 for 2 bikes (inc all on the road costs)
1 is a 6month old CG125 & the other is a 4year old GN125 (admittedly both are chinese copies, but decent bikes for them to start with)

be patient, especially with ebay, there is ALWAYS another part or good deal around the corner good.gif

You really did your research well.Good deals from e-bay.

I am staying in Singapore so shipping postage might be high to here from UK.So I am hoping that I can use back as much stuffs from the 18 inch.
I brought the 17 inch rim (just the rim,no discs or bearing) from a local guy for S$150 and just got a quote from a local shop for BT 021 for S$128 plus install, balancing to the 17 inch.

Keeping my finger crossed that it will work!

I've just finished my mission to buy an entire R1 front end to fit to a TRX, now I just need to buy the TRX unsure.gif

I got the whole lot for under £300, although it's taken almost a year. Anyone have a cheap TRX for sale? smile.gif
