I reckon I am going to need new touring boots soon. As always I want the best but at affordable prices (I know; how much are your feet worth).

What boots do others wear?

I've had a pair of Sidi Black Rain Evos for a couple of winters now which have never leaked and are relatively warm (You need thermal socks once it reaches 2 deg or so). They are also pretty comfortable on or off the bike

Dainese Touring boots - Velcro is beginning to rip away at the edge at the top - can be repaired, but shouldn't have happened

I wouldn't really recommend these , even though they have remained 100% waterproof.

(I got them at an auction for £60) so I'll live with it for what I paid

HG Tuareg gore tex, used for a number of years, very comfy, never leaked even when commuting 100 miles a day (roundtrip). Use Renapur leather balsam to ensure waterproofing usually once a month.

Think mine are the standard black rain not the evo but they're completely waterproof and very comfortable. They do rub a bit if you walk too far in them but a couple of miles is fine. I put a removable insole in them in the summer and then take it out so I can fit a pair of thick socks in for the winter.

Altberg I have found the best no matter what model they last a life time due to the fact that you can send them back for repair to get new soles uppers or liners mine have never leaked or needed repair despite driving through torential rain and thunder cells over the alps and this country. They are certainly better made than my Datona roadstar GTX boots and they are also cheaper and warmer than them too. Also you get to spend your money in the U.K without having to resort to buying a Triumph (said with tongue in cheek before any one starts on me).

The HG Tuareg are best boots I've had in years, recommend them any day. 80 mile a day minimum, 5 day per week commute, mostly over winter. Never leaked, never got cold feet, and comfy too b'jesus!!
See loadsa couriers around town (that'll be London town) with 'em so they can't be too shabby.

I use MAGNUM lace up walking boots which are warm and soft and offer no protection in an accident, but I don't do accidents any more so I don't care, and if I do do an accident I still don't care, oh yeah I also have a pair of BMW waterproof boots that are fully waterproof as long as it doesn't rain for more than five minutes.

Are they lace up boots that are waterproof, Dazzo? blink.gif That's a new one on me.
Red and black '96. Blue spot Thunderace calipers with braided two-line front hoses - 'kin brill. 17 incher out front. Renthal street/trail bars - vibe free. 1150GS brush guards. HIDs - niiiiice. Stebel Magnum - crikey. Nonfango hard luggage. Nexxus. SW-Motech center stand. Had a Powerbronze tall screen - too noisy - went back to standard.

Stealth Diamond Black 900 with lurvely black frame. GS brush guards. HotGrips on a relay - cos I keep forgetting. SW-Motech center stand and engine bars. LED rear light. Vario set to min. 17 incher. PR2s.

All now a fond (very fond) memory. Maybe again some day.

Oxtar Explorer Gore-Tex. Weatherproof - no leaks in 3 years, zip on the inside of the leg - warm with woolly socks in winter, and wearing well (zips and velcro flaps still working OK). Fine on the bike, but a bit pointy and narrow in the heel (typical Italian design?) for walking any great distance.
