Not really Tam, far easier with the back wheel out, just done mine last week and it's a bit tight, i nearly got stuck
Bigred mk1 R1 Calipers- Braided lines- Givi wing rack-Crash bungs- Hi vis bullets-PR2's- and a hoot to ride.

Took mine out early this year when I took the swing arm out, not the easiest even with the wheel out.
No more a TDM owner moved on to the Tracer
