My MkI does about 140miles to the tank full and my have my Tuono do 85miles to £25!! But my God it is soo much more fun than the TDM will ever be!
That's about 21mpg....should have kept the Rangie!

The TDM 900 has a rev limiter which kicks in at 9500. I was once told by a Yamaha dealer (and TDM rider) that you shouldn't worry about the redline, that the motor is safe to 9500, that it was just Yamaha being conservative. Dunno how true that is, but I wouldn't be reving my bike out to those extremes, TDM's are about torque not high revs anyway.
The TDM power tails off very rapidly about 8k anyway, with peak power being around 7.5k, so it's better to change gear then to stay in the power band. Any higher than about 8.5k and you're not really gaining anything IMO.
