So after trying a few aftermarket options, trawling around for solutions on this site and others, buying an expensive and supposedly ultra-quiet Shuberth helmet, and generally getting annoyed, I realised that none of it works [for me]. The nearest I got to tolerating the wind noise and buffeting was with the infamous ‘tiger screen’ but it was just too large and looked a bit silly (I still have it if anyone wants it).
After spending some time on some friends’ naked bikes and finding them surprisingly pleasant, I thought about attacking my screen.
I basically cut it straight across when looking at the bike from the side, which is of course a curve when looking at it off the bike.
Fantastic! Buffeting gone, and wind noise drastically reduced. There’s now only a clean laminar flow of air round my helmet, not the chaotic flow of air as standard or with aftermarkets. Done about 2k miles with it like that now.
Here it is:
Hope this helps!
