Head returned from having the seats re cut and std MLS head gasket cleaned and re coated with Hylomar blue.
This will be the 4 th time I’ve used the same head gasket.
No issues with leaks at all the last 3 times I re coated it even with 12.5:1 compression.
All clearances set once again and back on the bike.
Tomorrow’s task is to fit the FCR’s and exhaust and go for a spin through the countryside.

 

 

 

This chap doesn't mess about.  Tink he has an ultra rare Over Racing 6 speed box too as well as udder exotic Over bits and pieces.

 


spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

I loike tay and hang sangwiches !

Ooh they do look nice, Yamaha's idea of a Ducati. Go quite well too.

Lee i remember they used to make feck all used and some people bought cheap speed as a result,  they are now gone up in value.

At 0.58 minus a point for rusty head on front wheel spindle.  :punishment:  otherwise very super tricked.

That's Cobbas - don't like the sprocket cover - the rest is super trick, as is the big bore engine, FCRs, Over gearbox, etc.................................

Ang on, re-used the MLS head gasket 4 times with Hylomar with no leaks.........i seem to remember it was always advised on ere to renew head gasket any time the head came off because they get a good squash when torqued up and were throw away, and they aint cheap either...

I seem to recall his is a single layer copper gasket. That engine has had more time spent on it than Mr Yamaha spent designing it..........................

I seem to recall his is a single layer copper gasket. That engine has had more time spent on it than Mr Yamaha spent designing it..........................

So assume he probably anneals it as well  before re-use then, he called it an MLS gasket which is multi layered though !!
