Morning everyone. Proud owner of a new (to me) Mk2 850 in Yellow. Picked her up yesterday. Bit about me..

Live in Slough (yes it is as bad as you can imagine), but I prefer to say Upper Windsor!!!! Have 4 older children and just settling down with a new partner after a messy split a few years ago

I had a 900 a few years ago which i loved, but owing to a money grabbing ex i had to sell her..

Already got her stripped down to have a bit of a farkle with. Want to add an accessory socket for my mobile which is my GPS, heated grips (at some point), handguards and a taller screen.

I will use her for commuting and touring to Europe and around the UK so i will probably be asking for as many tips and hints as i can.......

Thanks guys......... Already put my Scottoiler on her, going to get a large topbox and then handguards. Seen numerous threads on here, what do people recommend? Cant afford the adapted ones from Germany though..... Am fairly mechanically minded so dont mind tinkering to fit..

Got Ktm handguards on my 1997 Mk2, need to drill and tap the bar ends though.

The XT1200Z handguards are/were the least expensive and are also easy to fit and look pretty good.

Hi bigmick and welcome, post up as you go, we've not had a build on for awhile now, especially a mk1, should be interesting to see, lots of chaps in the know on here if you need help.

Lots of chaps happen to have a spare rear shock by any chance ha ha I know for a fact I will need plenty of advice so, where would be the correct area to post pics or build progress pics ?
So for now tonight's work .... After I finished my day job and socialised with the wife and kids

hope nobody suffers from OCD will have to see this pic
20140729_213500_zpsuscsrre0.jpg
But it means I can get the frame into work at the weekend for a wee tickle with the shot blaster . Gotta get wheels stripped down and bearings out along with swing arm so can get them blasted at the same time

20140729_213512_zpsexihg9lw.jpg
Got a few questions off the bat tho

Any other bikes shock fit in as an alternative ? Without going expensive Aftermarket route

where can I order a set of two teflon bushes for front shocks should I need them ?

is there a how to with pics around these parts on emulsion tube replacement ? (Hate working on carbs)

:welcome:  to da club Mick !

I'd suggest you start a blog in the blog section although you will need to become a supporting member to post up there.  Also, as a non-supporting member you'll find you're limited to how many photos you can post up, supporting members get a 50MB allocation fer photos etc.

Only the TDM850 shock will fit, it's ewe-neek. A mk1 or mk2 shock will fit.

Yamaha main dealer for bushes, or you could try AJSuttons http://www.yamahamot...ront fork?uID=0  Metal slide one and metal slide 2.

Help fer fitting toobs is found in KB  http://www.carpe-tdm...?showtopic=4806

Any other TDM questions, post up in the All About TDM section. :)

Ah, right, errrrrrm, unfortunately, the boss man who updates the supporting members payments (Dapleb) has managed to escape the site, so I can't update your status until he's either captured or comes to his senses and surrenders into custody.

Once your status is updated you'll see the Blogs button at the top of the page. :)

Come back Dappers, escape is futile and it's only a matter of time !  :evillaff:

Hmmmm looking at the pictures these appear to be the metal bushes not the teflon ones that get damaged by these metal ones

Hello. I am happy owner of mk1 3vd 94reg with 47k miles on the clock. This is my first big bike after cb125t good 15 years ago. Got her from July and using it for leisure commuting on A and B roads in Yorkshire :).
Any one with mk1 north of Leeds? I am quite keen to compare set up.
Who knows what screen is it is? Got to improve wind noise and buffeting.
Cheers
Kris
