Looked through previous posts and maybe this is a problem only I'm having...

The top rear fairing screws (under the 'twin 900' badge) screw into a small rubber grommet with a threaded brass insert which sits in a loop mount on the tank; as I've discovered they split easily.

An old spare one knocking around took me for firkin' ever to get in as they have to go in from the tank side, but that's now split. I've packed it from behind but getting the screw in is still a hit and miss affair.

Anyone got an easy solution?

Get a new one. They then slide easily into the holes and expand on tightening. Most dealers will stock them. Just don't get original Yam ones. Pricey!

Thanks Dandy, two words I won't forget that'll save me a couple of hours in the future.
