Gentlemen...

I picked up a 96 TDM as a lockdown project, stripped it down to the frame and have it ready for road...

Gave it a new Hagon shock and springs, adjusted valve clearances, rebuilt the carbs, new discs/pads/lines, Renthal bars, wrapped the fairings and tank...

Anyhow, it's running well and I'm happy with the result but have one small issue...

After running the bike, I have petrol leaking from both carb overflow pipes...

It's not much and it doesn't last for too long (certainly not enough to empty the bowls).

Does this sound like the float height is incorrect?

I'm not at all experienced with carbs, wasn't sure how to do it so put them back in the bike as they were...

Any tips for doing the job?

Also, the Hagon shock was slightly longer than the OEM...

This seems to have raised the ride height and it now leans over way too much on the side stand...

I'll have to get someone to weld a piece in to extend the stand - anyone else had this problem?

Cheers...

Hello dare and welcome.

Been busy by the sounds. Boike looks great.

Worth chicken fuel/float levels and that noubt is sticking.

Hagon..they should really let people know their shock changes ride height...but they don't. This is a common complaint.

Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.

Hi Bruce very nice bike indeed, good job on the work, you know i was just thinking about that Hagon with an inch longer spring, my old mk1 was on rails with it but as you say the sidestand needs a clubfoot on it but i think Hagon are a decent shock for our bikes, same has happened to me with the carbs after a rebuild, took mine off again and looks like they were a bit stuck, have also had a tiny microscopic piece of dirt in one float bowl on another occasion, should be easy to sort.

Thanks folks...

The Hagon shock does seem to work well, glad it's not just me that has the side stand issue...

Guess I'll have to pull the carbs and follow the Haynes manual to set the float height and check for any dirt...

Don't enjoy working on carbs though...
