And this my friends is why you must grease your rear suspension every year!

This guy on fb has always had his 26,000km 900 serviced at a dealer, when the rear suspension collapsed Yamaha said he must have regularly used a pressure washer and removed the grease! The dealer didn’t want to know. As far as I know it’s not part of any service schedule but what do I know. One scrap bike, one very unhappy owner.

I seem to recall a member on here some years ago had a break in the same place after trying to remove the bearing. The repair was a fabricated  wrap on that section of the frame with the mounting lugs attached. Worked well from what I can remember. It was all posted on here (or my have been the old site), so might still exist somewhere.

Thanks for a timely reminder Chris, I do mine using a technique passed to me by member Riggers, but it's been 2 years so I'd best check. I'd hate this to happen to me. Would this bike really be a scrapper now?

Just checked on JBX and service schedule sites check at 10k Kilometers and lube at 20k for rear suspension assembly, so it should have been at least checked and lubed once in its life by the dealer.

Was going to say, isn't that the tricky one you have to knock out from the left.

I wonder if a garage or owner was getting heavy handed with it previously and cracked it, possibly not enough to break at the time but fail later on.

I'd expect that to be a scrapped frame, but interesting if someone managed to repair it.

but interesting if someone managed to repair it.

I'd buy it at the right price, that would be a very cheap right price though.

You're pimping it out already !

It's a possibility though. I need to have a think for a few days, but I could break it...

But there's a frame on ebay for £150.... It's just a long weekend to swap everything over
