I tested clamping the centre of the cap with a g clamp (as the above bracket would do) and it actually worked much better than I had thought so made up a bracket, fitted a new oring and some water pump sealant. Looks like it will work nicely.

Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.

Having peramgerlated on it a bit more....wouldn't it be better to apply pressure where the two extra bolts should have been rather than where the already 2 inadequate bolts are? Press down bits needs to to poopoodockular to existing bolts.


The bracket applies pressure to the centre of the housing. It doesn't apply extra pressure where the bolts are.

If memory serves me correctly, I fixed mine by using double O-rings.
