The left hand side linkpipe on my Beowulf exhaust (and previously Scorpion) does not tighten up fully to the end of the header pipe no matter how much I tighten the clamp, what can I use to take up the slack please?

A rectangular shim cut from a tin or aluminium can, inserted in the link entry and wrapped around the header end. Plus some exhaust paste.

Hold it in place on the header with a jubilee clip while getting the other bit over it, then tap it into position for neatness before tightening the clamp.

Maybe!

I've tried the tin can method and whilst it worked for a good while, it got really rusty and eventually started crumbling to bits. It was a really thin piece of can though.  Soooo, you may want to try using aluminium if you can get some.

It is possible to enlarge the downpipe tube using a special tool, or an exhaust place might be able to do it for you.

As so many have had this problem, I’m wondering why, is the left hand header pipe smaller than the right?

....  Soooo, you may want to try using aluminium if you can get some........

Several soft drinks are in Al cans.

Or, try Al foil - the thicker turkey type should work better - cut into a strip and wound round to get the required thickness. It's probably too fragile for this job tho'.

+1 that's worked for me too

If I had one to hand, an ali foil roasting tray, or disposable barbecue tray type thicker foil

900 with better bits. Owes me nothing, Makes me smile

You could file out the relief slots in the outer to allow for more closure around the inner pipe, this might require a smaller clamp if it reaches it's lower limit before firmly clamping or otherwise if you do go the metal sheet route you could consider some appropriately sized copper sheet. Easy to work with and very pliable.
