Hi all, so,I've stripped my 850 mk2 to the bare frame in preparation for powder coating and a complete rebuild.

What are the little rubber plug things on the inside surfaces of the frame?

I know they'll have to be removed prior to coating, so do they pull out, push through or what?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Gordon.

Hiya, thanks for the quick reply. I've attempted to pop a photo on, but I'm not confident that it's worked!

If it has appeared, the bits I'm concerned with are the little 'pips' beside the brake light switch. Ta.Attached File  20201004_175040.jpg   126.07KB   0 downloads

Hello and welcome.  Sorry can't help with your query, I'd prolly just try pulling on them and if that doesn't work, give 'em a lick. :D

Leave them in is my advice but make your own decision. I blasted my frame with an industrial strength blaster and they copped no harm. The blaster also cost me 20 hrs of life flatting the frame before painting........so choose the blaster/ media used wisely.....hth

Just reread your post and that you intend to coat it....so ignore unless you're painting...

Aye, I don't think they'll survive the oven, and they'll ruin the finish if they melt.

Had a go at pulling one out, they're tight little blighters!

As an aside, I'm thinking of having the frame coated a nice graphite/dark grey. The bike is a '98 4TX in Black/Metallic Blue Cocktail at the moment. But, I'm thinking classic Yamaha yellow in the future.

Cheers all.

I am sure those little rubber things are for items to rest against and keep them off the frame.

Nothing wrong with a good tug! :)

Can they be teased out with a small screw driver or the like?
