I always expected my 900s to give at least 60 mpg plus. Bridgewater over Exmoor to Barnstaple on mainly B roads at an  "enthusiastic pace" once netted me 70 mpg with tank brimmed at both ends. I found it better not to hang on to the lower gears but change up whilst riding the fat mid-range torque helped fuel efficiency. The MT-09 is not quite as frugal but not far off. Our club used to have an annual Economy Run over a set and challenging course of 60 miles. I can't find the results but I'm pretty sure I saw 80+ mpg but that was riding at 40 mph or slightly below and free wheeling down the hills on a dead engine.

Mpg, mph, miles, pounds, stones, psi, gallon uk vs gallons us... what a mess !

Here is a quick & simple conversion tool I made today : http://www.jbx9.16mb...hp?page=CONVERT

Use it until you decide to go metric !

Very neat, must be that french wine lubricating your brain cells, do you like to drink a standard glass (175ml) or are you happier with a schooner (two thirds of a pint)?

I rode my old Honda CB400 Four at ~70kph for some 100kms at 100 MPG+

To make the discussion even more interesting, I found the odometer on my bike to be about 5% high relative to my GPS.  I replaced the speedometer drive gear on the wheel with one from a V-Max and the odometer error is now down around 1% high.  I am also certain that the change has affected the amplitude of the speedometer needle oscillation but the difference is imperceptible.

1993 MK1. Between about 57 & 63 mpg. Generally easy pootling around Normandy with occasional A road (motorway) blats. Always using 98ron. Riding almost 40 years but first time on a TDM. Its not perfect but very, very good.

I've always averaged 46/48 mpg. (Clock gives me 265 for 18 litres) but my 8 mile commute has a lot of traffic lights and is in peak times.

Ireland studders so maybe 265 kliks. Even in kliks it doesn't add up ...comes to 41 mpg... With new toobs in and touring recently I was getting 240 miles to reserve needing just under 17 ltrs. About 65 mpg riding trunk roads 65 - 70 mph.

Last time I bothered to check I was averaging 6ltrs> / 100kms, sorry, can't convert to mpg. Right hand and oval mulching tubes have a big impact.

So what can you get your mpg *down* to ? I've been down to 33mpg, but that's the Samios remap (can get over 60 still if I want to travel far for longer)

900 with better bits. Owes me nothing, Makes me smile
