There is an operating temperature difference between C1 and C2. C2 runs hotter than the C1.
It is nothing to do with the Fuel injection or carb issue, whatever setting you tries, the C2 will run hotter than the C1 and it is to do with the 270 crank. I have had it with a TRX850 and the now with the 900.
Is quite clear from the uneven discoloring of the two header pipes and I had a laser temperature gauge pointed at the headers that quite clearly shown this.

OK. so what did your laser temp' gauge tell you the temperatures for C1 & C2 were? I for one am interested to know. waiting.gif

BTW, so far both my header pipes look identical in colour, but she only has 3000k on the clock. C1=14 C2=16

I had been a bit puzzled by fuel economy on my TDM900 and I have also had extra baffles fitted to the after market exhaust to quieten it down a bit. My typical short spurts of riding through the hills at 120-150 kmh usually result in the fuel level warning flash at about 300 km. So I checked the CO settings and found C1=22 C2=17 so I dropped C1 back to 15. I went for a ride yesterday which was entirely flat freeway riding at 80-110 kmh. I did 250 km and still have half a tank of fuel left going by the bar indicators. Do CO settings have much effect on fuel consumption or is this more an indication of the effect the right hand has?

My feeling is that you speed difference (120-150 & 80-120) is what is making the difference, not the CO setting. I have not seen any differenc ein engine operation when altering CO setting, lets say 10 units up or down,

Had TPS done and noticed no difference still very jerky between 2-4k ,then following instruction from the site set CO to c1=1 and c2=6(from c1=1,c2=-124) it now runs very smoothly,so it really did make a big difference, many thanks to you all.

I've seen it making a difference when hooked up to a gas analyser rolleyes.gif

I've also seen mine jump to 126 for no apparant reason other than the battery voltage being too low to start the engine. Thats when the clock resets to 1.00 pm - I wonder if the ECU resets itself at the same time unsure.gif

I set mine up with a co meter a while back. Runs smooth as silk now. No jerky hesitation etc. I even undid the airbox mod as it's not necessary now. Before adjustment, mine was set at 8 and 12. After adjustment with co set at spot on 3.5% ended up with -9 and -7. Definitely the way to go. Should have done it years ago! The economy has always been good, but now regularly returns 225-230 before reserve unless riding it like a total madman and then it drops to about 210.

Hi Trevini

Did you sample yours before the catalizers? And did you disable the air correction valve? Are you using stock exhausts? rolleyes.gif

So many questions eh?? rolleyes.gif

Sampled mine with the probe in which ever exhaust I was setting with the air valve blocked off (as per w/shop manual). I had Remus grand prix cans fitted, so no cats. I didn't bring one cylinder down first and then the other in one big jump. I made gradual small adjustments alternating between the cylinders until I got to the desired levels.

I also set up with no airbox mod and power commander disconnected/ removed. My pc has developed a fault where it will misfire after about 20 mins riding, whichever map is installed, however I ride, hence setting the system up properly without it. Switch it off for about 30 secs restart and then the whole process repeats itself. Tried it again after co had been set up and it still did it, so I'm guessing something electronic is breaking down internally. Since removing it the bike hasn't missed a beat. PC is now in the bin and having ridden the bike set up properly, I don't think I'd bother with the expense of another. Yes it did go better in terms of throttle response, but not that much really. What it demonstrated was how badly set up the bike was by the main dealer when they did the servicing for the first 18000 miles!

Cheers for the info - I did the same with my CCC cans and also ended up in the minus figures with the P Commander fitted.

Hi. When Trevini refers to disabling the air valve - I can see what I think is meant by this in the Service Manual (page 7-31?) but not sure how I would disable this. I have a friendly MOT tester and want to try setting the CO in the same way.
