For anybody dipping a toe into the waters of GPS but nervous of wasting dosh, eBuyer is currently offering the entry-level Navigo at £49.95 inc. free shipping. Not waterproof, but operates on SIRF, has voice directions, MP3/4 etc., and is compatible with various map systems via SD card, so worth a try to break the ice before getting serious?

Blimey they are getting cheap now. If I didn't have one on my phone already I'd be very tempted! A good find Mr Pict good.gif
In the world of I.T. anything is possible (but only according to those that don't understand the problem)

My mate has one of these and it does the job well. No Euro mapping though, so he tells me.

This one look interesting : http://www.pocket-li...tnav-aldi.phtml

120 quid for UK/Ireland and Europe (major routes) cover, 3.5" big screen, free RDS TMC traffic updates, new model so hopefully rather up-to-date. No idea how well it would work on a bike, just seems quite good value. Even I could be tempted by these prices badgrock.gif

Re. maps etc., there's a whole new world opening up with sites like this and this, for example - apparently the system is flexible enough to run as a PDA and also take at least TomTom6x, Multimaps, Miomaps3.2, Route 66, Igo8.....

Fwiw, I decided to have some fun so I ordered a Navigo (£49.99, free delivery) from eBuyer late on Wed night and it arrived this morning - less than 2 days!! Now for fun fiddling and fettling the options. It already works brilliantly indoors, even with our heat-reflective double glazing - I've read that others have been impressed by the strong satellite reception.

Looks good! Sold. Usual BS about no free delivery to NI tho, £11 it was. Ordered summit else as well to ameliorate the cost.

If it's no RoI coverage I'll see if I can install more maps - plenty of threads on the subject!

Top choice seems to be between TomTom 6 and MioMaps 3.2 or 3.3, with Igo 8 and Route 66 following. Main hacking sites seem to be AVForums and Navsoon
