Dicky i really rate the Versys 650 as her in doors has one, i've done a few ride outs on it but not enuf to know if it'd be a good contender fer a long distance steed. Cheap to buy used too. KTM SMT is a noice boike too.

Not according to their website.
They don't list a tdm in their new bikes section.
I wonder if I've got the youngest TDM in England?
Registered 1st July this year?

BMW GS or GSA
I am Sooooo glad you qualified that statement.
BMfookinW GS or GSA could never be considered as a replacement for the TDM, not even a poor substitute.
A bum swap is more like it.
I would rather buy any other bike in the world first, even a scoota before that pile of over-rated shite.
I herd yesterday that the new 2014 model can have its instrument panel Robbed by undoing a single clip. £700 to replace.
And the stupid GS-ukers still fookin rave about it.

Woe !
Are you customising your Bavarian Tractor, non standard exhaust and your own version of touratech.
That is against Corporate policy and the wrath of the GSombies will be unleashed,

Why not buy a Multistrada ? I parked next to one the other day and was pleased to see that it is almost exactly the same size as my TDM. I believe it weighs about the same
but it has all the extra features like dynamic suspension, traction control, modes etc. It is a beautiful looking bike and is not a great bloated lump like some of the other
"adventure" bikes.

What do you mean by new?
They stopped making them 5 years ago.
They may have stopped making them back then, but in Australia you can still buy new ones, ie. ones with zero kms/miles on the clock.
