Picking the Carpe collective brain here :um: . I’m getting fed up with waterproof boots that are not waterproof over the long term. In the last few years I’ve had several pairs of boots from Sidi and TCX and one pair from Dianese. All were great, comfortable boots, nice and waterproof for a few months and then they start to leak. Sportsbikeshop must be sick of me sending back boots under warranty. I know I’m sick of it.

Now, my latest pair of boots from TCX, a model called “S-Speed” are leaking like hell and they’re only 9 months old!!! They were replacements for a previous pair of TCX boots called “S-Sportour Evo”. I had two pairs of them, both leaked after six months and went back! When the last pair went back TCX gave me an “upgrade” to the “S-Speed”. By “upgrade”, I guess they meant they last for nine months, not six!

Anyhows, the original warranty on the first pair of TCXs has long expired. Sportsbikeshop have been very good and contacted TCX on my behalf, but they’re not replacing anything for me ever again. So, I’m after recommendations from anyone who has bought a pair of waterproof boots that actually stay waterproof, ideally forever! I ride all year, in all weathers, mostly a 25 mile commute each way, so I’m looking for recommendations from similar masochists. I’m sure half the reviews on websites for Waterproof” boots are from the more sensible members of the biking community who only ride in the rain when they get caught out on their Sunday ride out. Oh, I’m looking for a sports-touring, or touring style, not a great big clod-hopping ‘Adventure’ style. Thanks in advance :good: .

You had better luck with TCX than me, they flat refused to replace mine when the top split, never touch the brand again.

I'm currently using Sidi adventure goretex, thought they were expensive when I got them (£300) but just checked and I bought them in April 2014, they are used everyday, all year round and they are still water tight. They will need replacing soon because the tread on the left boot is almost non existent, right boot still good.

Edit - oops, missed the last sentence about clod hopping adventure boots :-p they really are good though.

I used to use Sidi 'waterproof' boots. And fair enough the right ones always were. Left foot was always pishing wet. Moved on to Daytona boots. Six years now and still bone dry. And soooo comfortable!

I have Sidi Canyons, eons old and still watertight. If your Adventures have the "commando" sole you may be able to get them re-soled. Cost me $60NZ to get mine done.

Funnily enough, Daytonas are the only other boot I have used which stayed waterproof. They could not be re-soled..

Cheers for the comments so far chaps, Daytonas had crossed my mind, pricey though.

I've got an old pair of TCX Infinitys, they're several years old and I use them in the depths of winter, but even they've started to leak now.

My Daytona boots are about 15 years old and watertight, with GoreTex. They have been back to the factory for resoling and came back as good as new, but now the gear change pad on the top of the left is breaking up.

My Hein Gericke pair are waterproof with GoreTex. They were bought second hand via eBay and were in as good as new condition. HG stuff is still available. Nearly all my gear is theirs, all bought second hand, all excellent. I have an extensive library of HG catalogues so can check the details of stuff.

Until you get a satisfactory pair of boots try a waterproof sock. Mine are from Aldi and have a waterproof breathable membrane inside a rather plasticky looking material, and they are warm as well.

Derri Boots? Blimey, I haven't heard of them since the 70s  :rotflmmfao: Back then they were god-awful things, wouldn't be seen dead in them. A quick Google tells me not much has changed since!! I am a fashion icon you know

If I were in the market for some noo waterproof boots,  I'd deffo look at buying some Altbergs.  Not just because they proport to be waterproof, but also because they're a UK company and are easy to approach, even in person, should a problem arise.  The touring boots look ok too. :)

Daytona might also be worth a look, I remember Kelpie singing their praises about waterproofability and longevityness.
