I pulled over to help a stranded Honda 400/4 Supersport rider on Saturday, he had only run out of fuel, we went back to his house to get his spare can and got the bike going. in return he let me take it for a spin down a local lane. I can absolutely see the attraction of this vintage of motorcycles
A '77 CB400/4 was my first bike ! Bought it unseen as I was on my way to a Rolling Stones consert and had no time . Part from a horrible cam chain rattle, poor brakes and pillion footrests bolted in swing, I loved it. For many years, a technique for falling asleep was imagining the sensation of entering the local motorway - a slight downhill - in 2., throwing it all inn through the gears with the whine of the four when exceeding 6k rpms... Now I have forgotten the sound and feel, but sleep well anyway
Think the only thing I have left is a photo of the famous 4-1 downpipe section, beautiful ....
