As far as I know he lives in Carmel, state of California, US, this area; "The Alpujarras" is in Andalucia, Southern Spain, just south of the "Sierra Nevada" mountain range, about 200km from my house :drinks:

Yes, most of the "spaghetti westerns" where filmed in Almeria, that is few hundreds km from the Alpujarras, down in the valleys, this is step up or down landscape, bet you need a horse with very good disc brakes to survive here :rotflmmfao: , this is goat or donkey country, didn't see a single horse

Great pictures
Ride magazine are doing a feature riding around this region this month. The roads look fantastic. It makes me think about getting a cheap package holiday to the coast and hiring a bike for a few days
