no
legally you only need standard bike insurance, just check your policy docs to ensure IoM is covered

medical insurance is simply to cover any additonal costs should the worst happen

make sure you get an "EHIC" card from the NHS, this should cover emergency treatment costs
i'd suggest as a minium you get 'travel insurance' that covers you for ambulance & repatriation in the event of an accident
the issue is, some travel insurance companies dont cover you for an accident that occured while riding a motorcycle over XXXXcc
and the 'accident insurance' that you get thru your bike insurance wont cover you for anycosts incured due to injury while 'not' on a motorcycle
therefore sometimes you end up having to buy multiple insurance policies
just make sure you read the small print on anything you take out
I normally send off an email to the broker or insurance company stating what I intend to do and asking them to confirm their policy covers everything

"Never argue with an idiot. They just bring you down to their level and beat you with experience"

Cheers Tony,

They sure like to complicate matters innit ?
So thats....

"EHIC" card from the NHS

'travel insurance' that covers ambulance & repatriation minimum.

check bike policy docs to ensure IoM is covered for RTT dates.

My bike insurance is with the AA so I'll see what they can do for me first.

Just checked my bike policy and it's up for renewal before the RTT which may/may not help matters !

Sorry for going way off topic Pete hidden.gif

I won't be there. sad.gif

Conflicting date with my north to Alaska (Arctic Ocean) trip. One of these years I'll join you all.

BTW, I *think* I've found the problem with my carbs - stay tuned. Looks like it might be a failed carb gasket/seal. Will post on PNW2009 thread when I get that sorted for sure, to close out that fcking nightmare problem.

Going to sort out my booking this week. I'm aiming to go Saturday 10th July, returning on Wednesday 14th. Ferries from Liverpool work out at:
Sat 10th July 2010, depart 11:30, arrive 14:00.
Wed 14th July 2010 depart15:30, arrive 18:15.
Price is advertised as £99.50 at the moment. Anyone know of any discounts we can get? Anyone else doing the same sailings?
I'll be staying at staying at Cronk Dhoo, so I'll call Lynn to book once I've sorted the ferry. Do I just need to mention your name Pete so we're all in the same bunkhouse?

EDIT: Ferries booked now as above, but price was 109.50, not £99.50. I misread the web page.

some information on health insurance now that reciprocal arrangement seems to be definitely ended

this link is through S100 websiute which you may wish to browse anyway

http://www.southern1...h_agreement.htm

I know most will have made some arrangement but this may help and seems to be indirect response to current situation
