OK so how many of us looked at the video and thought "I know what is going to happen"
Its easy for me to say in retrospect, but the Golf's road position told me that he was looking for an overtake.
Again, I may be out of turn, but I would have given the Golf a wider berth, at the point of impact there was a lot of road spare on the left.
I sincerely hope the rider is okay

Hi guys!
I agree with you nav18tor.
Add, or the driver of the Golf did not look in the rearview mirror or the bike was in the blind spot.
I realize there was plenty space on the left.
I drift away from overtaking vehicle that goes to freight, playing well to the left.
Defensive driving.
Cheers!

Perhaps the rider was inexperienced, tired, ,who knows but hopefully not too hurt which he seemed to be,low side n a slide.

It used to the case in France in a situation like that the motorcyclist would have tooted his horn to say he was there and wanted to overtake.
Its a pity it is not accepted here as normal courteous driving/riding as it might wake up a few Drivers/riders when being passed.
Using our horn is frowned on and thought to be aggressive and is almost bound to generated the opposite reaction to what was intended.

The fact everyone was driving on the wrong side of the road probably didn't help. The police really should clamp down.

Good comment and prior to a holiday in Italy last year I thought what a beeping racket they make, though after a week driving there it was obvious a toot on the horn was a friendly"I am here"as opposed to our get fookedIt used to the case in France in a situation like that the motorcyclist would have tooted his horn to say he was there and wanted to overtake.

Legally, drivers fault.
Morally, riders fault all the way.
The car was being driven erratically and it was clear he wanted to pass the other car at the first opportunity.
Rider spent far too long in the blind spot and was way too close to it during the overtake. If he had been further to the left he would have had time to avoid it.
That said, I would fully support the rider as a witness. His only real mistake was lack of experience and he gained it the hard way this time.

Yeah, na. You could guess the Golf's intentions before he overtook the white car. Make it quick, make it safe, give em a wide berth. Re the horn. I have got back into the habit of tooting if I feel I have not been seen. Set up maneuver, observe, indicate, toot, life saver, thwaaaaaaaaaarp, wave or thumbs up. It's typical of drivers here to lunge out before looking or indicating but you can generally spot their intentions a mile off from the driving behaviour.
