VED on cars is based on CO2 emissions, which is directly proportional to the fuel usage. My car and my bike both do around 50mpg, VED on my car is £140 while I pay £78 on the bike. The only effect of bringing bike and car VED in to line would be to increase the VED on bikes.
Whatever idiot conceived that petition is either deliberately lying, doesn't have a clue what they're on about, or has a VFR that's averaging 400mpg.
