Nice, I did a top end rebuilt on my Mk1, kept the same size pistons but had it honed and fitted new rings and valve stem seals.  Made a massive difference to the oil consumption.

Do you know what the increased displacement is and what the power difference should be?

It's obvious now how tired the motor was before rebuild.

New motor's broken in now.

It pulls harder than I thought it would (and I had high expectations).

To the question, is it worth putting thousands of $ into this 30 year old bike; yes, of course it is.

Brand new motor and upgraded suspension, bars, seat, lights, more than worth it.

I have one of the relative few 92 TDMs imported to the USA.

I love that it's uncommon and how it runs/rides.

bodywork next.

and a manual fan switch.

My KLR 650 (685) has 170,000 miles and could use a new motor.

There's a 705 kit out there..... :good:

Not sure I calculated correctly. Came up with maybe 870 cc I recall?

The main power increase came from worn condition of the motor before I rebuilt.

Compression was 50-60 lbs per cylinder.

Sad.

I wanted everything new, head decked, valve train, pistons, all new.

I'm surprised how much power it makes above 4K.

By 6K, it's pulling ripping.

killer.
