This is one of my most recent acquisitions, a "mostly" 1969 BSA A65 Firebird 650, dressed up as Lightning. I got as partial payment for a Norton Commando restoration that I'm about to complete. Sharp eyes will spot the many "incorrect" details.

This is my scratch-built 66/67/68/69/70 Triumph Bonneville T120R 650 set up for vintage roadracing in AHRMA Novice Historic Production Heavyweight class. I had good success with it in basically bone stock configuration (electronic ignition allowed under the rules); even though I was up against much nicer triples and OHC fours with experienced riders aboard (most of whom modify their engines extensively - allowed under the rules). My best finishes were 2nd at Willow Springs in 2010 (to a beautiful Ducati 750), and setting my class record on the Bonneville salt in 2008. Took 5th out of 22 riders in the '08 championship racing only 1/2 of the available events. Photo is at Barber's Motorsports Park in 2008.

1969 Triumph T120R Bonneville 650, resto-mod completed in 2004. Nice touches are Boranni wheels, Joe Hunt magneto, and 1970 paint scheme (my favorite). Actual donor bike did not have cylinders, head or seat pan when purchased, I had set them on the roller for a "before" photo.

A very old photo, it doesn't look quite so shiny these days, it also hasn't seen the outside of the garage for many years.

Nice bike, always fancied one but by the time I got around to it my body would not bend enough to ride one.

Just a Kymco Venox, but I like it.

There's a guy in my neighborhood with it's near twin, EXCEPT for the BMW tank badges! hee hee

I met him at the neighborhood gas station convenience store and he tried to sell me on the "new deal BMW made with the Japanese to make a smaller model V-twin for the 'States"

Yeah, sure. 'Bye.

Where to start ... Adventurer...

Nice. Much cleaner than my poor old Legend that gets thrashed mercilessly by both myself and the wyfe.

(This is so cool, the forum automatically did a multi quote for me, I can never figure those silly things out...)

1970 Triumph T120R Bonneville 650, recent restoration by previous owner. I got this bike in 2016 as "commission" for selling 6 other bikes for a friend (besides doing "make-run" on two of them, and completing one project bike before selling it as a runner). Near perfect, it has a few non-original bits, and one damaged bit that is hard to spot. VERY nice everyday rider, I use it for errands around town all the time. One-kick starting every time.

413011557.jpg

1970 Triumph TR6C Trophy 650, former AHRMA roadracer #207; belonged to my late friend and roadracing mentor, Malcolm "BritBdger" Dixon, an ex-pat British country gentleman. Sadly, it was disassembled when we found it in his garage amongst 40 years of Bribike stuff; I managed to put it back to near the condition it was in when we raced together, but the engine is not quite in running order and may never be in my lifetime.

396807202.jpg

Here is Malcolm about to lap me on lap 4 of a 6-lap race at the Sandia Classic in Albuquerque in 2007, my very first race...

376362338.jpg

1971 Honda SL350 - This bike was given to me as a tip by a client whose CB750 Four I restored (rest-mod, actually). The bike is currently in pieces, frame has been painted, may get around to overhauling the engine this year...

Big big big grin fun, great sound, great handling & stops. Not fast, not comfy. Giant killer on the right roads. One of 50 @ 500cc for UK. A 350cc was also available. Been in my possession most of its life.

1972 Norton Combat Commando 750 - Engine built by Leo Goff (Memphis Motor Werks), Dunstall bodywork with long-range tank, Thomaselli clip-ons, clubman rearsets, ARD mini-magneto ignition (batteryless), Novil 13" fully floating front brake with Lockheed Racing caliper & Brembo master cylinder. It can straighten your arms out and wheelie on throttle alone. I built it in 2008, it's "kinda" for sale...

312321129.jpg

1972 Rickman Montesa 250 vintage motocrosser, Honda XL250 front fender, otherwise totally original, unrestored. Took second place in the 2008 Sandia Classic VMX Sportsman 250 / Over 50 to Dave Aldana; he taught me why they wear face and chest protectors when the gates dropped!

335080400.jpg

1974 Moto Guzzi Eldorado 850 with Cozy convertible sidecar, unrestored, sidecar installed new in 2005 when we found out we were having another baby after 20 years of "not trying"...

1975 Norton 850 Commando MkIII Interstate, 99% original (Boyer ignition), unrestored. My regular rider for classic Britbike highway use. (it came with the "gremlin bell", I didn't install it)

183136443.jpg

1975 Custom "New Norton" prototype monoshocker, built from Kenny Dreer's original show bike as seen at the announcement of the New Norton project at the 1999 New York International Motorcycle Show. Abslolutely one-of-a-kind monoshock rear end and "tight-tuck" exhaust system, also the original Blue bodywork. Front end is from a Kawasaki ZX6, hand-wired with individually fused circuits, Sparx electronic ignition and regulator/rectifier, Mikuni FCR35 carbs. I converted the transmission to earlier style right-foot-shift.

376452458.jpg

1980 Kawasaki KZ1000 A4, unrestored, with Tracy fairing and Mac headers (now has Vance & Hines). I've owned this bike from almost new (32 miles on odometer in 1985 when purchased).

The blue Commando is very pretty!

What a shame Norton never produced something like it.

I might have mortgaged the house for that one.

Mmmmmmmm. nice, but really like the monoshock, cleans the back end up beautifully, and the inverted forks just complete the look on the blue 'un.

Thanx, I appreciate it.

I've not seen too many other monoshock classic Commandos.

1983 Honda VF750F Interceptor V45, original apart from D&D exhaust and braided stainless brake lines. A Honda "Milestone" bike for all of it's innovations. A dream to ride, and very fast (130+ indicated, with a good bit still on tap)

183138299.jpg

1983 Triumph T140W Bonneville 750 TSS Electro - only year for 8-valve head & triple discs, also has the e-start & electronic ignitions which were more or less "perfected" by this time. Too little, too late, this was the LAST model classic Triumph build before the Meriden factory was closed. Only 238 of them were made.

308409095.jpg

1974 John Player Norton Commnado 850 MkIIa - one year only factory cafe racer, one of only 200 built. I restored this bike from a sad rusty, dusty, barely rolling non-running klunker without the rare bodywork, but was able to restore it to approximately 99% original spec with approximately 95% original factory parts. Fairing was not easy to obtain, but is almost new; suffered a bit of cracking in shipment to and from fiberglass replica company that produced a mold from it and is now selling replacements. I just sold this bike, and it will be collected by the transporter next week...
