Another bike
LED and HID kits are available but check with your MOT man first.

I fitted LED headlights and if the MOT bloke says I'm naughty,I've got a spare set to put back on

I bought some H7 from Halfords, which were completely blue, Not a great description I know but, they've improved things somewhat because the blue filters out red and other warm colours, so the only light coming out is a bright white light, more like modern headlights produce, which has made a noticeable difference in the field of view.
900 with better bits. Owes me nothing, Makes me smile

I have always used HID's, way brighter than stock bulbs.
Local MOT man is fine with them depending on the "beam cut"
Passed in June.

Food for thought, thanks everyone

You're a lucky man - I understood HIDs were banned by the MOT rules and took mine off before a test. Ballast is still on the bike. Great light and controlled OK - needed the aim lowered from standard - and a special support ring.
I tried a LED bulb and after a lot of mucking about found that the beam was totally uncontrolled and useless, but at least it didn't cost much.
I've now got some uprated Halogens but forget the make / model.

I fitted osram night breakers from advice from here nearly two years ago, I can't say good or bad as I've not yet ridden in the dark since....
I can say they seemed far better in the garage than the originals that were the wrong bulbs and didn't even reach far enough into the headlight units for the beam to form so were always going to be crap.

Has good results with ONB’s in cars, think I’ll give them a go

Rode my 9er back from Jollys after dark and the lights were pants. Fitted HIDs but they were early bulbs and although a big improvement the beams were not very on coming traffic friendly. Now back to standard.
If riding at night I take a different bike.

Best is to have someone on the front mudguard with a white stick and a guide dog.....
