900A V 900 Rear Brake Hose Swap.

As you may have seen my rear hose blew recently. As it's an abs getting the replacement is a bit of an issue.

 

So my question is how hard would it be to "swap" the rear brake assembly for the standard non abs one.

 

I'm not worried about not having the abs as the front end works.

You'll have to block the feed from the ABS for a start. If the calliper and master cylinder are still standard then a matching rear hose should get you going again.
Is this also a "linked' system? I'd guess you're gonna get a light blinking at you on the dash.

Watching this with interest. I've got the same problem on a non tdm. ABS = PITA. I'm in the process of researching removing abs completely....not as simple as you'd think...good luck!!
Lock onto my co-ordinates and beam me up !!

04 900 - 92 mk 1 - r 1150 rs - Z550 A1 - 2x bonnies - plastic slug -XL185 - ...not in that order !! (and one or two i don't want / dare to own up to !!)

Caliper is the same, so you want a standard rear hose and banjos and M10 X 1.25 plugs and seals to block off abs. This is not a linked system.
Downside is insurance, if you came off as the bike will have a disabled abs they will say that's what caused it.

Personally, I would spend the £297 at Hel Performance and fit the nine braided lines kit all round. Bleed it all and never have to worry about it for years as the bike is a Keeper.

Just had a look see on the bikes I have in the garden. Front Honda dominator has the right fittings but you'd have to go around the swing arm twice to take up the slack.

And there's quite big difference in the pulse frequency so you couldn't just fit a non-ABS front sprocket sensor, without a frequency multiplier or maybe need a non-ABS ECU ?

 

Or a GPS speedo....

don't be a numb nuts lad,  fix it properly.  Have You asked HEL if they will sell You just the rear brake line kit?  Makes me laugh that we'll shell out hundreds on leathers, helmets, sat navs and tyres but baulk at a few quid to fix something as important as brakes properly. 


spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

My theory of replacement of all the lines is based on the fact they are all same age. One has already burst, luckily the rear. On the front end it would be catastrophic. No sense in risking your life over £297.

The rear for your model uses 3 rubber lines, 2 of them connect to a metal hard line, we don’t make metal hard lines though so they are retained on the bike. The diagrams from the links below show more detail of the front and rear original hoses.

You should be able to remove the whole of the pipe (item 28) from banjo to banjo.  Looks like 2 banjos, 2 blocks bolted to the swingarm and a clip (29) that need undoing.  Once you've got the lot off you can take it to a hydraulic pipe specialist.  I'm sure they could fit new pipes to the existing blocks.

The metal blocks are effectively unions with a rigid metal pipe between them. The metal pipe I would expect to unscrew with threaded unions. Probably M10 x 1.25. shouldn't be too hard to duplicate the blocks.

My dominator has the same size unions as jap cars. I'd like to think Yamaha use the same so if you damage yours I can make you another.
