Hi all!

I'm considering buying some panniers for my bike, and would really appreciate any help I could get with this.

If possible, I would like to not relocate the rear indicators. Therefore I'm asking you guys if there is a side rack set I could fit on my bike, and still use any size Givi side pannier I want without there being a problem with the indicators?

Alternatively, which side rack set & panniers would give me the most volume without touching the indicators?

Model names/links would be much appreciated.

This is the bike it needs to fit onto.

In advance, thanks for any help!

I fitted Givi racks and E32 Panniers

No relocation of indicators, top loading and narrow enough to filter

Hi, did you fit your top box adaptor plate directly on your back rack?

Its the done thing squirte.

I bought a second hand grab rail  and drilled that but some just drill their own. I have had mine on all three TDM's carrying loads of weight and ever increasing sizes of boxes.

Normal Givi rack and panniers fit with no problem, Givi asks you to take off the indicators and use the hole to fit the cross bar, but I just fit it tight up

to the mud guard and it has never moved I all my years of touring.

Ignore the stabilizers just some fecking Irishman's idea of a joke  ( still have them Alex), but you can see the boxes clear the indicators.

Have a look at this thread http://www.carpe-tdm...ail#entry225536

Welcome to the chop and change world of the TDM !

Cheers, Ivan

Thanks Ivan, I didn't really want to have an extra frame put on, so I'll be giving this a try.

If you use V35 cases with the curved back and the matching racks you will need to move the indicators. There are two pairs of tapped holes underneath the OE rack; I use the front ones.

My standard setup is for E21 cases so the move is not necessary, but the bike came with the V35s.

My Monokey base (an older "universal" design) is clamped to the OE rack using Givi parts for four clamps, and the two central bolts are tapped in to provide added security.

Haven't seen that lower fairing often?

:)

Yeah, I've done the IAM. And yeah, I recommend it (any so-called 'advanced training' come to that; not just IAM): A low cost training course based on the system used by the police, which is largely common sense once pointed out, making one smoother, quicker and safer. What's not to like? And why would one not want to tell others?  :hide:

Thanks for all the good info!

Do you guys think this set will fit on my bike without having to relocate the rear indicators?

They're made by TCP Holland. Search TDM 900 Fairing Lowers and you will get hits on Ebay etc. Happy hunting!

If you get PL 347s you do not need to move the indicators and can use various panniers
If you get PLX 347s then you can only use V35 panniers and you DO need to move the indicators
Get the PL ones!
I believe E41 panniers are the biggest you can get.

It says that the PL347 racks only takes 3 kg load, and most panniers have a weight limit of approximately 10Kg per case. Do you guys use these racks with 10Kg on each side?

Yes for sure, more than 10 kilos on occasion, i place a bungie through the handles across the seat as a small precaution, many people have stuffed the top box overweight as well without issue, dont forget you have a back seat to use if solo..

If your only packing clothes and shoes for example for a trip my 21 litre panniers average 7 kilos each..

Not a dumb idea to secure the panniers a bit extra with a strap. I'm thinking metal racks like these should be able to carry more thank 3Kg each. It's probably just a weight limit Givi set to be in the clear should anything happen to the rack while driving.
