My left mirror started dropping on my last ride, If I rotate it up it will lock like a nut and bolt but if I adjust it downward it loosens and drops down, It seems to have lost the tight friction qualities for adjustment up and down,  adjusting left and right appears OK.  Hope this description makes sense.

Any idea if it (presume some type of ball joint) can be pulled apart and adjusted?

Pull the rubber back and there should be a locknut you can tweak.

Current toys: '99 XT600E, 2000 4TX, '82 Princess 30DS (where the username comes from), No longer a '03 Fazer thou.

Save the planet, it's the only one with beer!
