I came across this

https://www.ebay.co....8?ul_noapp=true

Had a few messages with the seller who states it was definitely removed from a TDM900

By my reckoning, it's a standard CBR shock, from about 2007-2011, so it has a shorter than normal length, less travel and a lighter spring. No good for me, but, what about a smaller and lighter rider ? I think it gives a shorter light rider a good compromise !

If it's shorter than a standard 900 shock I wonder if it prove beneficial to 850 owners where an aftermarket shock replacement all.most always leads to a sidestand mod or block of wood.

The problem on the 850, from what i remember of mine, is there was no room for the external reservoir which sticks up from the shock top.

Looking at the YSS products, they list a couple for the 850. One for the mk1 and one for the mk2. the mk1 item is shorter. Both listed as MZ456-nnn-TR(L) , where nnn = 300 for the mk1, and 310 for the mk2 (measured in millimetres). The 'L' means adjustable length, +/- 5mm, so maybe that's a good option ?

Spring preload adjustment also works as the ride height adjustment, when fitted with a constant rate linear spring

A different system from the 850.

the 900 has rising rate which can have softer springs, the 850's are direct off the swing arm like my fz600 which I had to have the strongest spring fitted when I fitted a rising rate R6 shock.

The R6 shock and adapter can be fitted to a TRX850 for those interested. Projection Components make the adapter

I had an R6 shock on the rear of my old fazer thou and it made quite a difference to the ride, much less soggy.
That needed shorter dog bones to fit.

Current toys: '99 XT600E, 2000 4TX, '82 Princess 30DS (where the username comes from), No longer a '03 Fazer thou.
