where did Big Red eventually go to ? someone on here I suspect, maybe the new owner will let you have a ride for old times sake.

You fixed his mirror Lee when you were up here fella......remember the big fat gorilla who rode it... sorry to say he's let it go a bit due to work issues, but hopefully all to be resolved in the near future..

I've still got my Mk1 looking sad in the back of the garage if you fancy another one Dablik :D  I really do need to get round to cleaning her up and putting her on e-bay.  I know what you mean about the B-road grin factor, the 900's way better on a more open road but you can't beat the Mk1 for gnarly stuff.

Did you really mean that Chris? Have you abandoned the Rat Brotherhood?

Hi dannyboy!

Very beautiful your motorcycle.
You are on honeymoon, after taking the carbs to the hospital.
I ask: do you still want to sell it and buy a Honda 90?

No need to answer. Make good trips, walk a lot and be happy!

Cheers!

I have to be honest Sidarta I was at a loss as to how I could sort the carbs. Ignorance and frustration were taking hold. That's why I love this forum so much. Just as I'm about to give up some one steps forward and gives you a hand. When the summer comes I shall treat my mk1 to a good old make over and apologise for my nasty language.

Hey Dannyoy!

Overcome obstacles of any nature teaches us to be patient and never give up.

Basically, this is what moves the bunch of crazy this forum.

I think that if there were no mechanical problems, would be a monotony. (Too bad it

sometimes hurts the pocket)

The feeling of walking on a bike again after a repair mechanic is very good.

I wish you a good summer, so you can have fun with motorcycles.

Where I live in Brazil, we walk the bike to the entire year without problems. Temperatures range

between 13 º C and 39 º C (winter x summer)

Cheers!

MK1 850s running beautifully but I've noticed a slight seeping of fuel from the fuel tap. Possibly rubbers are worn as I always turn off the fuel now when parking up. Has any one used http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5af2dac4e8

Hi Dannyboy!

TDM is my 2001 model and the fuel pump is electric. The rubber repair your
motorcycle consists of 3 pieces of rubber. (2 circular + 1 rectangular with
rounded corners). In my case there is only the two circular pieces. As there is
virtually no parts available in Brazil for TDM850, I had to improvise. I like
product in the domestic market.

It is identical to a popular model of Yamaha 125cc produced in

Brazil and cost R$ 4.00. (about 3 pounds) was a very small value. You have found the product and tell where the link went 12.00 pounds.

Why do not you try to view products similar to other models of yamaha manufactured in

Europe? Being smaller displacement models and more popular may be cheaper. In
my case it was plug and play with a 125cc model.

As an example see the link I could find on the Brazilian market.

 1) http://produto.merca...-600-yamaha-_JM

2) http://produto.merca...-350-tenere-_JM

Can be plug and play with the XT600 and etc. Seem equal to repair your motorcycle.

Cheers!

This is what is  inside the fuel tap + a spigot? that comes out the rear of the tap that can be rotated. Mine was very loose and a slight tug (ooer missus) had it in my hand. I reckon that must be the culprit. Going to get some araldite and push it back in to solve the problem. I also took the fuel pump apart to check the diaphragm that Dappers provided. Still in A1 condition and functioning great :badgerrock: Once I've put it all back together I'll check for any leaks and give you an update.

That elbow spigot you mention originally uses an o' ring and is a push fit.  When you've fixed it, check that the l/h bolt holding the tap to the frame isn't too long as it'll push against the spigot if it is bod. :)

Glad to hear she's still running noice.  :good:
